I have now received my final blood results from medichecks.

I have posted on here previously with other blood results, but, I have never been tested for the full Thyroid, taken 25th September 2017.

Thyroid stimulating hormone 4.34 (0.27 -4.2 mIU/L)

Free Thyroxine 14.1 (12.0 - 22.0 pmol/1)

Total Thyroxine (T4) 79 (59-154 mol/L)

free T3 4.1 (3.1 -6.8 pmol/L)

reverse T3 ratio 17.79 (15.01 -75.00

Thyroglobulin Antibody 47.0 (0-115 IU/mL)

Thyroid peroxidase antibodies 37.6 (0-34 IU/mL)

Active B12 84 (25.1-165.0 pmol/L

folate (serum) >20.0 (>2.9 ug/L)

25 OH vitamin D 165 (50-200 mol/L)

CRP - high sensitivity <0.3 (0.0 - 5.0 mg/I)

Ferritin 54 (13-150 ug/L)

Parathyroid Hormone 2.0 (1.6 - 6.9 pmol/L

Calcium 2.32 (2.20 - 2.60 mmol/L

Corrected calcium 2.20 (2.20 - 2.60 mmoI/L)

Albumin 52 (34 -50 g/L)

I also had a ultra sound scan recently and here are the comments:

"Both lobes of thyroid are mildly enlarged with altered texture. No focal lesion identified. A few cysts noted in both lobes. Vascularity in both lobes is within normal limits. Appearances could be due to Hashimoto's thyroiditis. No abnormality noted in the submandibular glands. No evidence of lymphadenopathy in the neck".

I am seeing a Endocrinologist as my symptoms have been extreme tiredness, hair loss, unable to keep my weight stable, cold, I feel like there is ice cold water running through my body and the feeling of wet feet. I have also been suffering with extreme tummy pains, bloated and neck stiffness, tearful.

I can sleep but, I don't feel refreshed in the mornings and my memory is terrible and sometimes I have trouble concentrating and making sense of what should be easy tasks.

I did have blood tests previously, where I tested positive for Epstein Barr Virus and I was low on Vitamin D and Iron. The Endocrinologist put me on some anti virus tablets and also gave me 40,000 IU of vitamin D once a week and to take and some liquid iron.

My vitamin D level has improved as I was at 46, now it's 165 and I have slightly improved on my ferritin as was 20 now 54.

Before the Endocrinologist I went to see my GP, and had blood tests, my vitamin D was low as so was my iron. I was told to buy some Iron tablets and take 1000IU of vitamin D to take once a day, this didn't help. My TSH was then tested and came back at 6 (0.27-4.5) I begged the doctor to help as she could see I was in a mess she gave me was given 25g of Levothyroxine to take a day, this made me very ill with awful tummy cramps, I didn't want to eat and my tummy was so bloated, that's when I paid private to see an Endocrinologist.

As I said earlier, he did his own blood test and I tested positive for EBV and with the anti virus tablets for the first two weeks I felt on top of the world, and then I hit a brick wall again and my symptoms came back again.

I have gone gluten free (advice on this forum) and I had been for over a week now, this has really helped with my tummy pains and bloating and also seems to help maintain my weight.

I am taking 1000mg of Vitamin C and now 85mg of elemental iron which I take in the morning together with some orange juice as well as 1000mg of vitamin B12. I also take 3 x 5ml of liquid iron a day

I am also taking 200 msg of Selenuim.

I have stopped taking 40,000 IU of Vitamin D as I am frightened I will go over the range as I am at 165 and I am going to Florida soon, so know I will have plenty off sunshine.

I am due to go back to the Endocrinologist in November and I am still to forward my latest Thyroid results to him as I only got them today.

Is there any advice on what else I should be taking, my tummy is very sensitive to iron and wonder if I need to increase this to get the iron levels up, I have thought about liver which someone suggested on here, it just getting past that stage of trying not to think about it when eating it.

My memory loss is driving me mad as I'm normally such an organised person that remembers everything, I am finding it difficult to do such simple task at the minute.

Any advice on my results would be greatly appreciated. I just feel that although the Endocrinologist is very sympathetic I feel my progress is too slow, he has said he wants to increase my iron levels first. The endocrinologist is mentioned on the list from Louise, (although I realise the list is not a recommendation.

Best wishes.

Peanut31,

TSH is over range which indicates primary hypothyroidism. Free thyroxine (FT4) 14.1 is low in range and Free T3 4.1 is low-ish in range because FT4 is low.

There are 4 makes of Levothyroxine available in the UK. If you have adverse effects on one make you should request your pharmacist dispenses an alternative. The 25mcg makes are Mercury Pharma, Wockhardt and Teva. If they don't suit ask your GP or endo to prescribe 50mcg Actavis and halve the tablets to 25mcg daily.

Thyroid peroxidase antibodies are mildly elevated and confirm autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto's). There is no cure for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Levothyroxine treatment is for the low thyroid levels it causes. Many people have found that 100% gluten-free diet is helpful in reducing Hashi flares, symptoms and eventually antibodies.

Active B12 >35 is unlikely to be deficient.

CRP is an inflammation marker so a low result is excellent.

Liquid iron is gentler on the stomach than tablets. Take it with 1,000mg vitamin C to aid absorption and minimise constipation.

I commented on vitD, calcium, PTH and albumin in your previous post.
