Vitamin and mineral deficiencies/Thyroid dysfunction.. Chicken or Egg?
Before I spend my hard earned money on going to a private ENDO because the NHS is failing me I wanted to ask what you all thought about the problem of iron deficiency and vitamin D deficiency and how this relates to underactive thyroid . NHS Guidelines 2-monthly injections for B12 deficiency patients with neurological symptoms
Hello All, Browsing the internet (as you do!) and have come across two NHS-issued documents, stating those of us with neurological symptoms should be having 2- and not 3-monthly injections (and should be referred to a haematologist, apparently - personally I've never seen one after over 20 years of

Question About Iron Supplement

I have been taking the supplements which have helped tremendously, until they started messing up my gastrointestinal system, and that was with the timed release, gentle iron and the sublingual iron as well. Recommended iron levels
With regard to iron, there is really only one correct way to test a patient's four iron levels. This information is from The Johns Hopkins University & Medical Center in Maryland, USA. Listed below are the four iron parameters, the "normal" limits for men and women, and the recommended levels for RLS

Apixaban and iron
I am taking Apixaban 5mg bd and iron bisglycinate 60mg. Is the iron reducing the effectiveness of the Apixaban and vice versa? If so, what is the solution to raising the ferritin levels?

Low Iron
Hi guys! Like suggested lve done my full Iron panel! Could you please recommend the best dietary iron sources, except for liver pâté, which I'm already aware of? Also, if I'm unable to eat enough iron daily, are there any highly absorbable iron supplements you could recommend? I've been taking Spatone

Would oral iron be useful given my Iron levels (in description)?
I have RLS and got some bloodwork done. The following came up: IRON , SERUM 91.0 µg/dL TOTAL IRON BINDING CAPACITY ( TIBC), SERUM 353 µg/dL FERRITIN , SERUM 116.1 ng/mL I was wondering if Oral Iron would be useful for me or end up giving me toxic levels of it.

Recent iron results - not sure what to do now
Hi everyone, I've recently had an iron panel (NHS) after 10 weeks of supplementing with 1 then 2 x Three arrows per day, as well as taking cacao liquid (as recommended here) in the hope of increasing my stubbornly low ferritin. However I'm not sure how to read the results so any advice very welcome

Hello, dear RLS friends! I would really appreciate your advice regarding my mother's ferritin levels. So she is currently on 0.375 mg (some days up to 0.5 mg) and 900 mg neurontin. I know DAs are not optimal, but at this point it would really be a problem to withdraw, especially that mom did start with

New (to me) symptom of severe iron deficiency
I'd never heard of this before and thought it might be useful to somebody... People who are severely iron deficient can have the whites of their eyes (the "sclera") develop a blue tinge. https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/Blue-sclera-secondary-to-severe-iron-deficiency-Hassen-Chirurgi/0ae45491752fa575014a5dce5588c7acdcd2f4a7
