Iron tests

I spoke to my doctor today as I was concerned about my ferritin of 48 which was tested on 8th May, after reading that with high auto antibodies, which I also just found out I have, my ferritin should be over 100 to not have iron deficiency. She booked me in for iron studies tests next Wednesday at 11.25

UK Mental Health charities and B12 deficiency

Hi All, I mentioned on a thread recently that I felt it would be great if some of the mental health charities in UK published articles on B12 deficiency. Maybe people who have the time and energy could contact one of the charities and ask them to put something about B12 deficiency on their website.

Low levels of iron good for us?

Hey, folks, been coming across articles talking about how our bad cells crave iron and in fact can cause iron deficiencies by using it up. Many supplements are iron chelators, including turmeric. Anyway, just got iron results back and they are on the very low end of normal. And I am thinking this

Ferritin iron advice please

Hello, My recent ferritin results was 21% of range, even though iron was 78%. I did neglect iron the last few weeks a bit as I ran out of my usual iron tablets. I have now Solgar's Gentle Iron 20 and iron in a liposomal form (gel) 20 mg as well. How many should I be taking to raise it? Thank you

All Symptoms could be Neurological?

It seems to me that all symptoms of B12 deficiency that are known and some I experience that are not not associated with B12 deficiency could be attributed to the neurological system. Any thoughts?

Iron metabolism in RLS : iron transporter ferroportin & Magnesium Malate

Editing to preface: The important subject of iron metabolism deserves a much better post than this. I apologize for how confusing, messy, and inconsistent it is. Please disregard it or take it with a grain of salt. I would erase it but out of respect for the comments made, I wont. I cut and pasted

Iron Levels with CLL

Ive been having issues with low iron and as a result I'm on/off iron supplements. I also started taking acalabrutinib in May. I see a local doctor who didn't seem too concerned and I also see a doc in Cincinnati that says low iron is not normal with CLL/acalabrutinib, so he wants me to have an upper

Advice on iron test results please

Having had a history of low ferritin and been prescribed iron tablets, I thought I’d do a test to see if I actually needed them. Surprisingly, my ferritin level has improved but is still not optimal to support my thyroid. Should I take the iron supplements?

Neuropsychiatric symptoms of B12 deficiency

I came across an article that seems quite informative on the general topic of B12 deficiency, and especially on the topic of its neuropsychiatric symptoms. The article title is "The Neuropsychiatry of Vitamin B12 Deficiency in Elderly Patients". Here is the link: https://neuro.psychiatryonline.org

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VITAMIN B12 DEFICIENCY AND PERNICIOUS ANAEMIA?

The above is the title of a webpage on the Home page of the PAS (first tab). However, like a Times article, the headline bears no relationship with the words below., ie it doesn't describe the difference, it just describes B12 deficiency. There is a similar page describing Pernicious Anaemia, but again

sub clinical hypothyroid

I’ve got so many issues it’s hard to know where to start, I’m in process of correcting multiple vitamin and mineral deficiencies plus diet and exercise and bone building drugs so I feel like a chemist shop as it is.
