All sex hormones are low. Are you approaching the menopause ? ? .. for confirmation you could ask for FSH and LH to be tested and would expect an increase.
Cortisol is averaging high so needs addressing as can interfere with thyroid function by inhibiting TSH, so production would be low and reduce conversion of T4-T3. Also interferes with blood sugar balance encouraging insulin resistance.
DHEA becomes low after supporting elevated cortisol and it is important to reduce cortisol and raise DHEA as an adequate level is required to convert to testosterone// oestrogen, etc.
Vit D is low and needs supplementing.
Ferritin is low and iron under half way through range so needs supplementing. The body needs iron for carrying oxygen and to assist in digestion (enzymes). When iron levels are low it slows down the conversion of T4 to T3 as iron containing enzyme thyroid peroxidase is required to produce the thyroid hormones.
B12 is high but this is not always indicative of the amount being actually utilised as a B12 serum test measures the total amount in blood circulation and this includes holohaptocorrin which is the inactive form of B12. However high B12 levels (when never supplemented) can point to other health issues so this may need further investigation.
Thyroid hormones are low and thyroid antibodies are way too high. Members have found a gluten free diet to help reduce antibodies. Also supplementing selenium 100-200mcg daily has been proven to help reduce TPOAb and aid thyroid conversion.
Addressing all these deficiencies and reducing TPOAb will help NDT to work better.
Thank you so much for all the information. So overwhelming to understand and to know what to do first. I am 20 years past an early menopause so does that make a difference I wonder.
It makes me want to give up before I even start, but I won't I want to feel better.
I've started in vitamin D3 with vitamin K, so I'll start looking at others.
