10 + 10 + 10 = 30
Thirty. Good number, right? ...damn, I remember "being" 30! How can that be more than 30 years ago? Great age though. We were, "Old enough to know better; young enough to learn." Now... numbers (and age) take on a whole different significance... but it's all good. We cool. It has taken me 226

Abnormal liver function+
Hi all, I’ve just had a call from my surgery to say I’ve had an abnormal liver test result. The receptionist said I need to repeat the test and asked which vitamins I was taking. She then said I can’t have an appointment to see the doctor for two weeks and she can’t fit me in for a blood test yet but

Science or Snake Oil: does EASEaCOLD really help to shorten your cold?
[i]"There is very little evidence the herbal and vitamin supplements in EASEaCOLD Cold and Flu, Day and Night help to treat the common cold, or the symptoms associated with a cold. Some, such as echinacea and garlic, may help to prevent a cold, or reduce its length or severity if taken prior to the cold

Spatone Liquid Iron
Wondering if anyone has tried Spatone to give their iron levels a boost? Can you take it with Pred? Am on 12.5 at the moment. I know the Ferrous Sulphate will be a lot stronger but don’t like the side effects, Spatone seems to get a lot of good reviews, find it difficult to make decisions these days

B12 injections discontinued
Hi there I had B12 deficiency diagnosed a couple of years ago, and as it wasn’t diet related, my GP put me on lifelong B12 injections even though he didn’t feel I really needed them as IFA was negative (this was in Hull following HEY guidelines I suppose). He was very dismissive of my neurological symptoms

Exercise with Hypothyroidism
A month ago I had the right side of my thyroid removed because of enlarged nodules. It started with a lump by my Adam's apple a year and half ago, which lead to an ultrasound that found the nodules. The surgeon said to wait and watch it for a year. During that year I continuously gained weight regardless

Vitamin B12 Patches
It seems that people on this site have not yet discovered vitamin B12 patches (they are like plasters). They are much better than supplements, because supplements have to be digested by the stomach and the liver has to work hard with them. Vitamin patches go STRAIGHT INTO THE BLOOD STREAM. No digestion

Aneamia & Ferrous Sulphate
When I became aneamic,I was told to eat iron-rich foods and bloods will be tested again after a month. My own GP is on holiday and I saw a different one this week to ask for a new prescription for Pred. He also gave me a prescription for Ferrous Sulphate 200mg twice daily. I am not sure whether to take

Are Topical Zinc ointments bad for Parkinson's?
Sorry, the question is probably addressed somewhere in here but for the life of me I cannot find it. I use topical Zinc foot medicines daily and something I read keeps rattling around my memory saying that it might be bad for parkinson's if absorbed into the brain. Anyone have info on that specific

Hi, I'm new here and a mummy to a two-year-old girl who has just been discharged from hdu following a very severe episode - high work of breathing that didn't respond to salbutamol nebs or oxygen on the mask. In the end she turned around slowly with the help of airvo and magnesium sulphate. She was diagnosed

Iron Deficiency May Predict Greater Risk for Hypothyroxinemia: A Retrospective Cohort Study of Pregnant Women in China
One of the parts of the thyroid jigsaw that is most often repeated here is the importance of iron levels. Here, in the context of pregnancy, another paper highlighting the importance of adequate iron. Yet, most of the time, we hear of standard treatment being ferrous sulphate - and the difficulty people

Should I push for a dose increase?
Hello lovely, helpful people on here. I haven’t posted for quite a while, as I have thought that I feel sort-of ok, but I’m wondering if I should settle for that? I still struggle with brain fog (but nothing like as bad as it was), anxiety attacks and depression, although I seem to cope with them better

Any experience with doxycycline, proton pump inhibitors and or zinc strategies
OK, so wondering about off shelf treatments and reports of results in the anecdotal real world of patients. Came across some citations about Proton Pump inhibitors as a way to change prostate cancer cell pH environment, softening up the cells so to speak. Also wondering about Doxycline and whether anyone

Hello. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's last April, on 50mcg of Synthroid (levothyroxine). I should be on a higher dosage but can not tolerate it. When I was first diagnosed they had me on 100mcg and I was over medicated. My tsh dropped from 15 to 0.8 in one month and I ended up at the hospital with
