Attitude, attitude, attitude
Attitude is everything in life and everything when it comes to cancer let me explain. Let's all agree we are all going to die sometime no one escapes that. It doesn't matter if you're the richest man in the world or the poorest man you are going to die. When you accept that simple fact you take away

Screening for atrial fibrillation
Just a few of many papers. The third is particularly impressive. None appear to be behind a paywall. A hugely important matter. 1. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5565853/ which mentions increased workload for GPs [https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27059888/] 2. https://www.ahajournals.org

does anyone else have to sleep on their back and other questions
I find there are times when I can't sleep on my right side (I never sleep on my left) without my heart playing up. I have trained myself to sleep on my back but I've never heard anyone else suffering this. Also, when I'm reading in bed, I have to hold the book off my chest, or this also causes missed

Hi I've been with this group for sometime but I don't always stop to write, today I wanted to share some of the issues I have or had. Because of this life style we are now in for some time yet. I got so it didn't matter what I looked like! a definite negative. So I made my mind up that I had to make

I am stalling at week 7 :( I did the 15 mins end of wk 6 and felt good, but now hitting 10-12 mins max, so frustrating! Any tips?
I had heart surgery 3 yrs ago so 15 mins was a real achievement but now feel like I am going backwards.

How are you yold
Hi, can you please tell me how you are told it's your turn for the vaccine? My friend has a text. There's a link but doesn't have anything official on it. Local chemist say ignore as it's not her turn as she's 60( triple heart bypass last year and slightly over weight) so wondering if this is the reason

When it should not be anticoagulated
From the SEC's 2016 Guide to Atrial Fibrillation Management developed in collaboration with AECCT. In female or male patients with atrial fibrillation who do not have additional risk factors for stroke Anticoagulant or antiplatelet therapy is not recommended for prevention. Antiplatelet therapy is not

Heart rate :(
My heart rate while resting is about 44 and I’m so scared I’m only 22, don’t really exercise I’d say I walk everyday but I wouldn’t count that as athletic, struggled with diziness and breathless, I applied for a cardiologist appointment but it can take 3 months to come back, it does fluctuate so it can

I’m looking for some reassurance please.
Four weeks ago I had quadruple heart bypass surgery, I am just at the start of week five post surgery and I’m struggling. The recovery is a lot slower and more challenging than I ever imagined. I feel permanently sick, can’t taste food, can no longer drink tea or coffee, am always tired and it takes

Existing heart failure drug may treat potential COVID-19 long-hauler symptom.
In a new study out of University of California San Diego School of Medicine, researchers found a drug used for heart failure improves symptoms associated with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, otherwise known as POTS. This complex, debilitating disorder affects the body’s autonomic nervous system

Homemade Chicken Burger and Chips
Tonight’s dinner - crumbed chicken, avocado, tomato and coleslaw in a toasted brioche bun swerved chips, cooked in the oven with a drizzle of olive oil and sprinkled with salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika and rosemary. It was delicious, even if I do say so myself. My husband was pretty impressed too

Did you notice greatly improved stamina after AVR(Aortic Valve Replacement)?
So I was told that I had moderate to severe aortic stenosis due to a calcified bicuspid aortic valve. At first I refused open heart surgery, but after learning that there are less invasive techniques and also being told that I would have a lot more stamina and energy if I had the operation, I agreed

Loss of appetite, change of taste, and sleeping problems following heart surgery.
I am new here. Had aortic valve replacement end of September 2020. Severe complications five weeks later led to fitting of a pacemaker and change of medication. On Bisoprolol 5 mg and Digoxin 2.5 mg and doing well. Great problem with appetite initially with rapid loss of weight. Disturbed sleep pattern

Onset of Afib
I need some advice. I had a cryoabalation in July 2018. I have been in sinus rhythm since. I went to bed last night and 2 hours later woke up with a heart rate in the 180s. Spent 5 ours in the ER. Came home and 12 hours later back in sinus rhythm. Is this normal? The only thing I changed was to a Claritin

Hi just found this link and joined. Very recently discovered I have left bundle branch block. I have a slow pulse - anywhere between 40 and 60. I have an erratic blood pressure which is very difficult to take, and has to be done manually. My GP is not concerned but I read somewhere I should get an echocardiogram

Tricuspid valve repair
I may be recommended for this surgery. My local hospital is The John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford but understandably I am looking for the best team for the job. I understand Harefields is good for heart surgery but since I have no experience of previous valve repairI I am wondering if anyone here

Mitral Valve clip
As I'm not a good candidate for open heart surgery, my Cardio is talking about a mitral valve clip. Be nice to hear from anyone who has had this done Thanks

Unlucky 13 and minus 7’ outside!! 🥶
Today is 13 weeks after my heart bypass, unlucky for me a snowy, cold, icy start to WK2 Run1 of the C25K programme. 💪 I completed my run but my hands were frozen by the end!!! Managed the longer duration running periods OK but found it difficult to concentrate on the new breathing technique introduced
