Attitude is everything in life and everything when it comes to cancer let me explain. Let's all agree we are all going to die sometime no one escapes that. It doesn't matter if you're the richest man in the world or the poorest man you are going to die. When you accept that simple fact you take away cancers most powerful weapon against you and that is stress and fear.

There have been numerous medical studies on the placebo effect. People who thought they were getting the medication but were in fact given a placebo fared in some cases just as well if not better than the people who were receiving the medication. That just shows you how powerful our mind's are. I believe, what the mind can believe, the body can achieve. I know to some of you that sounds very trite but this is what I believe. Sometime back, I made a posting on this forum about an exercise I was doing called Pingshuai. Well, in another 54 days I will have completed two years of this exercise every day not missing a day. It's an easy 30 minute exercise for both the mind and the body and it relaxes you and removes the stress of everyday living.

One of the most powerful things we have as a human being is the power to choose. We can choose to be happy we can choose to be sad the choice is ours. The most powerful force we have of course is the power of prayer and the power of believing in God. I can only tell you how much is has changed my life and I certainly think it would help change your life if you're not a believer. Another thing I do every day is keep a gratitude journal. Every day I write down my weight, my heart rate and what I'm grateful for that day. I have been doing this since the pandemic hit which is well over 300 days, I find it very helpful and calming.

Another big thing one must do in my humble opinion is to change one's diet from a traditional Western diet to a more healthy diet. For example, I do not eat meat of any kind, I do not eat eggs, I do not do dairy and I do not drink. That may sound very dull for some of you but to be honest with you I'm in really good shape. For example last year I cycled over 5000 miles. That was 2000 miles more than it ever biked before in my life and I just turned 75 this past December.

Another positive is laughter – some say laughter is the best medicine and I tend to agree with that. If you'd like me to put you on my non political, non racist joke list just email me at adamhewison@gmail.com. Subject: Joke List. Your email will only be used to send you jokes from me. Again, it's your choice.

So the take away from this rather long and drawn out post is believe in yourself. Believe that you will get better and never, never, never give up, as the best is yet to come. Stay strong, keep believing.

Laugh or cry--your choice. I never found crying to do much good after a catastrophe. Try to think about and remember the good times and share them....

I know sometimes it is hard.. I turn and see pictures of my family on the mantle. My son (24) was killed 6 months ago. His picture, with his twin sister, is prominent up there. We miss him and it hurts, but we try to remember the good times rather than the bad. Next week I will hold his son who was born after he was killed.. just a permanent memory we will try to hold onto for many years to come. Hopefully I will live to see him grow and prosper.

Shooter 1 - Sometimes life is hard especially when you lose a loved one or a family member. You will live to see him grow and prosper, never doubt that. Stay strong and never, never, never give up.

Love the post. It echoes Dr. Lam of Scholtz/Lam Prostate Oncology. When I said something similar to your post. Dr. Lam shut his computer and looked at me and said "If only Prostate Cancer was that easy..." Positivity is a fantastic asset indeed. Keeps me alive 10 years now from diagnosis.

First, Please never use the expression "but to be honest with you" otherwise you're not.

You made my day. I 'm on that same boring diet and bike when ever I can here in the mountains. I'm 77 and had a goal of 700 miles this past summer and fell short by 30 miles, thats with an E bike!

Nice post, I also bike quite a bit, I have been doing a lot of my biking on a Peloton as I live in Illinois. I'll try to learn more about your exercise program. Be well and stay positive!

Beale, and fellow cyclist 🚴‍♀️ thank you for your comment. If you have time I highly recommend Pingshuai ( translation peace swing) it is an easy exercise to do. I doubt you will even break a sweat, unlike the Peloton👍🏻

I know the best is yet to come. Immunotherapy worked wonders for me. It’s given me almost an extra four years now with a very low PSA.
