Hi I've been with this group for sometime but I don't always stop to write, today I wanted to share some of the issues I have or had. Because of this life style we are now in for some time yet. I got so it didn't matter what I looked like! a definite negative. So I made my mind up that I had to make a start.
So I've now lost 15lbs since Christmas I don't mind it being slow as I'm hoping that my new way of eating I'll never have to do this again because I've change how & what I eat. !.
1. make a life change that you can keep
2. use a smaller plate, drink more water
3.Take exercise every day no matter how little.
4. Eat loads of fresh veg don't over cook.
5. cut down on how much alcohol in a day
6. Cut down on cheese, no bread, small amounts of pasta
7. look for low calorie or nil calorie.
8. I never eat before 12.30/1pm
I think fasting till lunch time has made the difference, I have now got used to not eating a breakfast so now I know I can stick with this I don't feel I'm on a diet that's my point as soon as you say that you feel deprived, well I do so now I don't
best of luck all of you

Hey Scattydame I think you've done really well as 15lbs is no mean feat especially in a month.I think that you have given some great tips as healthy eating with adequate exercise = happiness and wellbeing.
So good for you and keep it up and do let us know how you get on.
Very well done! You have got it right with talking about a way of living, rather than a diet! Changing the way you eat and getting some exercise every day will make you feel better and be healthier. I am still really excited about how much better I feel after making similar changes - firstly about 15 years ago, when I lost weight and kept it off by doing your 1-5, and again recently when I have cut my carbs further and increased my exercise. In my experience your first 5 points are the essentials. For me, number 6 is mixed - I have almost cut bread and pasta out of my meals, but the cheese is different - you need the protein, the fat content will help stop you feeling hungry, and the calcium and other "goodies" are good for you!
I would also think very carefully about number 7 - going for low calorie food can lead to eating stuff that is over processed and has lost some of its nutrients - I believe nature is not stupid, and foods in their most natural form (such as full fat milk and yogurt, for one example) are better for us. The main thing is to treat added sugar like poison, as that is not natural and never good for us!
I believe you are right about number 8 as well - I hear a lot about the benefits of 16:8 fasting/eating - But I have tried, and I can't do it!
Congratulations on this and your perception of things is so positive and feels good to me to read. Nice simple things to motivate from within to make small changes that don’t feel held back or punished but celebrating the little steps that make it work for you. ☺️
