Update and question about verapamil
Quick update.....stopped flecainide and reduced verapamil. Feeling good and no afib, no SVT. Surprisingly blood pressure which was always good dropped (now 107/68), but Verapamil is meant to lower blood pressure. go figure. Only change I have made recently other than meds is use of taurine (close to

Low triiodothyronine levels correlate with high B-type natriuretic peptide levels in patients with heart failure
An association between low T3 and cardiac disorders. They appear to very responsibly avoid unwarranted conclusions - which came first? - but at least the question is being asked. [i] • Open Access • Published: 08 November 2021

info on triple heart bypass recovery for my dad
It looks as if my dad will be discharged from hospital this week following a triple heart bypass op last week and I wondered if anyone could tell me when it's likely he'll be able to go for walks around his neighbourhood, etc? Will he be allowed to cook, make a cup of tea, etc? He lives on his own but

A decade on from heart failure diagnosis
Today marks ten years since I was unexpectedly diagnosed with heart failure at the tender age of 31. I remember back then being told by Dr "Death Knell" Google that I'd be dead within five years. [Nowadays I know Dr Google is an unqualified quack who knows nothing and likes to present worst case scenarios

COVID Booster risk/benefit
I'm curious how your docs are advising you on whether to get a COVID booster. (I'm interested what doctors are advising, not any personal opinions of patients.) A couple of suggestions to make dealing with incontinence easier.
About 12 years post RP I began having incontinence issues which totally changed my OOL. Diapers are expensive in Thailand plus the fact that your entire bottom gets wet. I came up with this simple, inexpensive way of dealing with my problem. I just wrap the little guy up in a couple of paper towels and

Hi I’m new here! I had LV Heart Failure in 2010 and lived a fairly unrestricted life. left ventricular systolic dysfunction
Following my recent heart echo this diagnosis has appeared on my NHS GP record - "left ventricular systolic dysfunction". Upcoming valve replacement surgery - Any advice?
I've recently learned I need to have Mitral Valve Replacement heart surgery, and am really scared. I was wondering if there is anybody else in this group who's undergone the procedure who could tell me a bit about the process, recovery and how you felt in the weeks/months after? Can you live a normal

Deep heat, deep freeze, or massage oil?
I've been massaging my legs for 1-2 min each night before bed, and it seems to help a bit. What has your experience been? Also, have you tried something like deep heat or deep freeze, and how did that go?

Chronic back pain and pain relief?
Hi all Looking for some advice re pain killers for awful lower backache. I had a stent fitted in my LAD a year ago and on the usual meds ie Ticagrelor, Atorvastatin, Aspirin. Everything I read it seems I shouldn’t take ibuprofen only paracetamol which doesn’t touch the pain. Been seeing an osteopath

ADT is similar to a strict, difficult mother-in-law
ADT is similar to a strict, difficult mother-in-law or a picky, cranky father-in-law: It wears us out and makes us tired. It wants us go to bed early, and not stay up late. It wants us to exercise a lot to remain healthy. It wants us to avoid smoking. (See the ABCDE strategy mentioned by Dr. Alicia

Home baked gluten free seeded bread.
Hi everyone, Just to go with our polls on sandwiches and fillings especially as todays is our favourite breads. I baked this earlier with white gluten free bread flour I usually use brown but white is lighter and rises better and I'm very pleased with this has risen and baked. Here's the recipe: 350g
