Medichecks Folate Range
I've seen mentioned on here a number of times that folate levels should be at least halfway through the reference range. I'm struggling to understand whether a level of 12.2 is too low or not given that it's the product of a Medichecks test which simply states that normal means >7 ie without stating

How do I defeat extreme tiredness?
Waking up tired and most days feeling exhausted. My brilliant haematologist checked bloods and has given me an infusion of iron plus daily folic acid. But still tired. Is this a symptom of CLL and/or Avalabrutinib?

is this a sign my meds are struggling or just how it is now?
Sorry for the long message but would appreciate knowing if this is typical or if I am being a little dramatic and unrealistic. diagnosed with RA nearly 2 years ago. Took a while but pretty much back to normal after moving to injecting 20mg MTX, 200g hydroxy and folic acid 6 days a week. Took just over

What does it mean
Got results from my bloods on Monday, I don't understand anything, I need folic acid- was already on it, need more apparently, I thought that folic acid was for pregnant woman and it's being put in bread, Vitamin D- I have very little- I think that's because I don't go outside enough? Cholesterol

MTHFR gene mutation
Good Morning Everyone Being my own advocate I recently looked into a possible gene mutation… well it’s positive And closely related to osteoporosis..: 40% of people have it and go through life not knowing.. I would suggest being tested.. don’t know about insurance but I’m glad I have my answer

Further Blood tests
Hi, I posted previously with blood results and my symptoms which are: -painful neck and shoulder muscle - feel so exhausted I could cry - constant sore throats - numbness in my hands and forearms - really heavy and prolonged periods - weight gain no matter how well I eat and a nice puffy face!

any clues?
I posted recently about starting Thybon. I’m back with another post , feeling very despondent. My t3 was 2.6 (3.1-6.8) while t4 was about 17. (12-22) It was suggested I start slow and add 5 initially to the 112 eltroxin dose and increase when tolerated to 10. I began and although my energy lifted

Tinnitus almost gone… some hope to share (down to folate supplements?!)
I first joined this forum about 8 months ago and was in a very dark place with my pulsatile tinnitus. I went to ENT had tests and scans and told no obvious cause learn to live with it now. I did that with some success using CBT based app Oto, I brought myself a sit stand desk for work as found it was

Trimethoprim - ET
I have unfortunately developed a urinary tract infection. I am penicillin-sensitive and have been prescribed trimethoprim as a seven day course. I have been reading up on it and see that it should not be prescribed for patients with "blood dyscrasias" because of some interaction with folate. Does

Reducing T3 - please help me understand
Hi all, I am baffled with my situation. I would be so grateful for any ideas. First, after being extremely sick for over 5 years I was finally diagnosed with mold exposure early in 2023 and now being treated by a top specialist at Cleveland Clinic in the US. Making progress. This doc warned me

Why did my infusions get stopped?
I’ve had several Rituximab infusions, usually every 9 months to a year apart; the last one was in 2021. In 2022 I was informed that Rituximab would be replaced by Rituxithon ( I hope that’s right) as its cheaper. I haven’t got a problem with this. In March 2020, the week before lockdown, I went

Tired all the time
Lately I feel tired all the time, from when I wake up to when I go to bed in the evening, despite the fact that I sleep more than 8 hours per night. I take a lot of supplements (calcium, D3, folate, complex B, magnesium glycinate, heme iron),
the only value that was low was ferritin
but I do take

Nasal Sores with Mtx
I inject 15mg of Methotrexate weekly and take folic acid 6 times per week. Recently I keep getting nasal sores in both nostrils which are sore and painful. I researched that the cause is most likely Mtx. I have tried to ring advice line at my hospital but it is never open. Has anyone any suggestions

Conquering MTX
So, I'm about to embark on a 2nd stint of mtx after a 9mth break. I'm going to take it by mouth again, likely 15mg + 10mg folic acid a day later, maybe slightly higher mtx initially to smash the current flare. Injections might be ultimate route, but before that I am very keen to hear any success stories

My doctors have just done B12 and folic acid blood tests, I was diagnosed in 2002 with pernicious anaemia. I have just been told that both results are high and that a doctor may want to speak to me. There is rumours that the surgery are trying to cut back on prescription and I am worried they will stop

Low Folate
Hello, I was recently told I have low folic acid. I just wondered if anyone has experienced similar symptoms to mine. I have been given 5mg folate for 4 months and told to take over the counter folic acid forever once the course is completed. The main symptom is palpitations and constantly aware of

Folic acid for twins
Hi does anyone know the recommended dose for folic acid if you're pregnant with twins? I'm getting conflicting advice and I'd like to hear from someone who has been through this or been given good advice. Thanks!
