colon cancer
I have had irregular bowel movements for as long as I can remember. Recently I noticed blood streaks in my stool. I’m scheduled for a colonoscopy this week but my anxiety is through the roof. My sibling was recently diagnosed with colon cancer and now I’m scared that I may have it as well. Any advice

Has anyone tried Berberine (supplement) for Afib?
In researching what supplements will help my 93 yr old mom's heart (afib has returned after two ablations that kept her afib-free for 14 months), I found a study on Berberine. She's currently on Tykosin and would stay on Tykosin, but that eventually becomes ineffective (sometimes as soon as 6 to 12

Uric Acid [UA] & PCa Mortality
I once had a gouty foot. It was self-induced - I was having a brief but intense craving for high-purine foods, particularly anchovies. (Perhaps PCa was driving the craving - lol.) At some point I looked at the PCa / Uric Acid [UA] literature (more than I expected), but it was mixed & failed to impress

Coagulation markers as independent predictors of prostate cancer aggressiveness.
New study below [1]. Altered coagulation factors are an early event in PCa. Indeed, the first sign of PCa in some men may be a deep vein thrombosis [DVT. The study authors wondered if there were coagulation factors associated with aggressive disease. Only fibrinogen & D-dimer were determined

Thank you
I am overwhelmed with gratitude to all those that have responded to my post yesterday . I responded individually to the first people ( I’m not sure how to private message , I’m a bit crap with technology and my texting thumb is numb 🤦🏻♀️) But thank you all . I have had both psychology sessions

I'm Back....
Hi Everyone, I was on this site several months ago and since then have been in a psychiatric hospital, been seeing a psychiatrist, had EMDR and ketamine treatments, had weekly therapy sessions and am about to try a new therapist, and have tried five different anti-depressants. I'm still struggling

Touchpoint Solutions for ADHD/Focus
My 8 yo daughter was diagnosed with ADHD last year. After a several month wait due to insurance and availability limitations, she is now in therapy and I think it will be very helpful for her. She continues to struggle in school. I hoping to avoid medication if I can, but I also know it will be some

New technique modifies T-Cells to cure cancer
From a publicly available site Scientists have stumbled upon an extraordinary 'living drug' in the bloodwork of a late-stage cancer survivor. A year after receiving "the biggest development in cancer therapy" in over 50 years, this patient's body was still protected by a fleet of souped-up killer

Progress report
Oh what a fun week I have had. Those of you that followed the tooth saga will be pleased to hear I am nearly at the finishing line and had the fitting for the implant, another 2 weeks and I will have the new tooth. It wasn’t particularly pleasant but it’s done. My next exiting trip was to have a scan

vitamin B12 high
hi , have just had my blood tests results back had to have them done because I take statins and metformin. My vitamin b 12 has come back at 746 which apparently is abnormal, as anyone else had high vitamin B readings when taking statins or metformin ?

Platelets dropped after obinituzumab and won't rise even after transfusion 🚨
Dear all, First of all, thank you very much for all the help and care I have always found on HealthUnlocked. I had my first infusion of obinituzumab and in my case, mainly due to my nephrotic syndrome kidney problem, I had a few problems. High fevers, which are common Attacks of hiccups that last

Update on breast pain with PMR
Thought I would let you know how I got on at the breast clinic, after having so many kind messages on my previous thread. It was a harrowing couple of hours at the hospital this morning, but the good news is that all is well. The mammogram that was done 2 weeks ago showed an area of concern, which

Xeloda and Afinitor in lieu of Piqray
Hi everybody-had a horrible go with Piqray and the oncologist has taken me off but given me no alternative or solution. In seeking out a second opinion I’ve been told to inquire about Xeloda and Afinitor. Just curious if anyone has experience with these as they don’t specifically target the PIK3CA gene

Groin pain
I had intense radiation therapy 6 months ago and all seems to be going well; however, a dull pain (sometimes pretty intense) has developed in my right groin. I can’t think of any way that I might have injured this area, and I’m wondering if there is any correlation with my treatment.

Treatment of Paediatric Brain Cancer with T3?
Report of an interesting study where T3 (liothyronine) was used to treat mice with medulloblastoma. The treatment reprogrammed the cells so they became normal rather than cancerous. The study is described here https://www.foxchase.org/news/2023-04-17-study-finds-thyroid-drug-normalizes-tumor-cells-in-pediatric-brain-cancer

Iodine avidity in papillary and poorly differentiated thyroid cancer is predicted by immunohistochemical and molecular work-up
In order for radio-iodine treatment to work, the radioactive iodine has to be taken into the target tissue. "Avidity" is how strong the uptake of iodine into the tissue is. The higher the avidity, the better at absorbing iodine, and the more likely the treatment is to be successful. Hence understanding
