Just completed a whole gland TULSA procedure

This was salvage treatment after failure of SBRT by MRIdian in Mar 2020.PSA nadir after SBRT was 2.4 and it rose to 5.3 just 3 years later, when a PSMA scan showed 2 possible tumours within the gland. A subsequent biopsy confirmed local tumour recurrence with Gleason 4+4.

Interventional radiotherapy team seem quietly confident they have nailed it this time. Hope they are proved correct.

How are the urinary side effects?

It's probably too early to say, the catheter was removed 24 hours after the procedure and I am now 3 days post-op. Currently, I can go about 2-3 hours without needing to pee. The flow is quite weak still.

Do they give you a corticosteroid to reduce the urethral inflammation?

No, they gave me Spasfon and paracetamol which I took on two occasions, once while I had the catheter in place and once after they took it out.

I have a little constipation probably due to the low-fibre diet I had to follow the week before.

I travelled to Strasbourg, France for this procedure. It is not available in Malaysia. My lovely Malaysian wife came with me but she hates the food here 😂
