I’ve recently been suffering from some acid reflux symptoms (especially with trigger foods). I’ve noticed the acidic taste, burning sensation, nausea and oesophageal discomfort. Anyway, I pop the odd gaviscon when it’s really uncomfortable or painful or take an omeprazole.
Recently I’ve been experiencing stomach pain (mostly upper right) and nausea. I feel less hungry and it’s really uncomfortable. Sometimes tight clothing can trigger it and it’s like I feel squished.
Has anyone experienced this before?
I am in my early 20s and not quite sure why I’m experiencing such symptoms even when I reduce the trigger foods that can cause these issues. I’m assuming it’s stress/anxiety that could be making things worse.

Acid reflux is very unpleasant! I see you only take omeprazole when you have problems, it might be worth taking it daily, if this doesn’t help do go back to your doctor. I also add in gaviscon advance which is only on prescription here.
Other things that might help are raising the head of the bed of use more pillows so you are more upright, also avoid eating too late in the evening and avoid triggers, chocolate is one for me 😒
It’s so annoying and painful. Okay thank you. I’ll try take some for a week to see if that helps. I just don’t want to become reliant on it. I’m also such a picky eater so need to try eat healthier too.
My son had this during the pandemic Shen he was ill. He stopped drinking so drink lots of water and don’t have acidic food especially tomatoes and cheese . You are likely to develop an ulcer etc
Do high fat foods trigger the pain in upper right quadrant? Have you ever had your gallbladder checked? It’s worth looking into if you haven’t as that’s its location and it is triggered when digesting fat. To be honest when I had my gallbladder attacks it could be any food but high fat ones make it much worse. It worth talking to your gp as an ultrasound would pick up if you have any stones but an mrcp would be best in case any stones are out of the gallbladder and could get stuck which is very very painful. Good luck x
yes they do. But right now it hurts even if I don’t eat anything and it feels sore. I made a same day gp app yesterday and they’ve referred me for an ultrasound. Been given buscopan for the pain but I don’t think the pain is spasmodic it’s more of a dull ache so I probably won’t take that. Will try to eat some plain foods and smaller portions too. Thank you for your reply x
Once the gallbladder has been irritated then it can hurt all the time as the stones can move out of the gallbladder. I would stick to low fat bland foods like you said just to be on the safe side as I remember the horror of those attacks I was also given buscopan as you do get biliary spasms different to bowel cramps but the buscopan along with actual pain killers used to help me when it got really bad as I couldn’t even move when it really kicked in. An ultrasound will show if there is stones in the gallbladder so it’s a good start, I had to have surgery to remove my gallbladder but not everyone does as it depends on the amount of stones etc. they can also do an MRCP which is an mri that will check for any stones outside of the gallbladder and see if the bile ducts are dilated etc.
Hope you get the ultrasound soon but so take some painkillers if it gets really bad as it’s the only way to relax things down again the buscopan isn’t that helpful on its own I used to pop them like smarties before I had the surgery as my gallbladder was stuffed full of them. Good luck x
