POST 3 - CAR-T cell therapy
Since my last post things have been ticking over with regular blood tests, Clinic appointments and my bridging treatment which consists of weekly infusions of Rituximab and continuing with Venetoclax, 300mg daily. Apart from a reaction to the first infusion of Rituximab all has gone smoothly. In addition

left atrial appendage occlusion interesting paper
there a differences of views on left atrial appendage closure primarily due to the purpose of the left appendage not being known. This is an interesting research paper bringing together all the studies - study looks at LAA closure alone and not with a mini maze or catheter ablation specifically

The difference between ET and JAK2 ET…?
I’m a little confused about these two. My SIL doesn’t have the JAK2 tho I do have it. I don’t understand the differences between the two diagnoses 😊 I am 60 and my SIL is 42. She is on drugs as well for Ulcerative Colitis. They are anti rejection drugs. She was diagnosed with ET a year or 2 ago

teenage bedwetting
I would encourage any teens that are still bedwetting to have a complete urodynamic test run. I didn’t have this done until age 30 but discovered I had a neurogenic bladder and from my history probably since birth. That completely explained my incontinence issues. Would have loved to know this earlier

Pain after blood clots
I had my 3rd DVT in my groin area last year and have had pain ever since. I have been unable to work and am currently classed as limited capability and have been asked to retrain to work from home. I don't even know where to start! I've worked in hospitality and retail all my life and have a 2 year old

High Platelets and N-Acetylcysteine trial

Hi, I was diagnosed with Afib after suffering a TIA in April 2021. Amioderone and xarelto controlled it until after 6 months amioderone caused my thyroid to quadruple. So stopped amioderone. After xarelto resulted in an internal hip bleed was switched to Eliquis. Had an ablation Jan 2023 so still

Traditional Mediterranean diet and warfarin
I am 5 weeks post mechanical valve replacement. I'm on 8/7 alternating warfarin. I am 26 and was brought up on a Mediterranean diet which I have not been following since discharge because I have been avoiding the higher vitamin K foods. I have also been eating much more meat and high protein food than

Firstable i thought dad's the bad guy. Then mom. Adored sis and thought she's much stronger and mature than me. Then sis told dad about my job without my permission and he will stop my funds and i felt like those two betrayers. Or maybe im overreacting, i hope i am. Then mom supported me on the phone

consultant doubting diagnosis of APS
After 3 strokes and a questionable 4th that we were told was a migraine episode but definitely affected cognition and even more reduced left side movements, a phone call comes to say we are not sure your hubby has APS as we cannot find the diagnosis letter. He has been on warfarin since 2009 following

Apologies for the offtopic but I thought this was an interesting anti-oxidant supplement although only preliminary research has been carried out on it as yet. It seems to have potential as a very powerful antioxidant but too much anti-oxidants can also be a bad thing (based on vitamin E and beta-carotene

A cautionary tale
At short notice I accepted an invitation for a cryo ablation on last Monday. I have been on rivaroxaban and clopidogrel for a year. The ablation was straightforward and successful, however within minutes, while I was still very groggy from the local anaesthetic, I suffered a TIA (very minor stroke)

Wondering if anyone has had dental extraction while on Actemra. I was told by my dentist that it affects the jaw and I would need to see a specialist since an extraction would be problematic? I am in the UK and have weekly Actemra injections. Thx

I'm wondering if I really do need to continue with Rivaroxaban 20mg. Diagnosed about 15 years ago with paroxysmal AF and an ablation 13 years ago, I haven't actually had a bout of AF for over two years. I only experience ectopics and even they have reduced since taking magnesium and CoenzymeQ10. I'm
