I have been reacting to subcutaneous SI and looking at what is in Panpharma B12 there is acetic acid sodium chloride sodium acetate. This is hydro. I have bought a lot of these and worry first if I can’t use them and secondly if all have this in them. Any advice please?
preservatives in B12: I have been... - Pernicious Anaemi...
preservatives in B12
- Vitamin B12
- Sleep disorders
- Glaucoma
- Sodium
- Age-related macular degeneration
- Occupational back conditions
- Acetic acid
I’ve been using PASCOE Hydroxocobalamin ampoules On the leaflet and on the packet itself these ampoules only contain. —hydroxocobalamin, Sodium Chloride ( salt) and” water for injection purposes ‘“
NO Sodium Acetate , no acetic acid (vinegar)
I have no problem with either brand . I do know that there has to be salt in the injection , or it would be painful . We have salty bodies and the injections need to be salty .
Hope this helps
thank you . I’m not sure what to do as I was recommended Panpharma. Do all Panpharma have this in?I have bought Hervert these also have sodium acetate . I have over a hundred of these
Panpharma have never changed . I can assure you that Panpharma , Pasco and Hevert all work excellently . But Panpharma is often recommended because 1) It has the most value for money ( I.e. it’s the cheapest !) 2) It’s a 1ml ampoule , and people prefer to inject a small amount . Also handier to inject 1ml sub-cutaneously , which some people like to do .
I have used all 3 brands and they are all great . But if there’s an additive that doesn’t agree with you , you obviously must avoid it . Pascoe only has salt . Nothing else .
Hi Wedgewood I have looked on Pascoe site and I can only see 1500 rather than 1000. Is that what you buy? I’m sorry to bother you but I don’t want to buy more that I can’t use
Thanks
Sue
Yes , that’s what I bought when Panpharma became unobtainable . Yes they are 1.5 mg . I injected as usual , once a week .
Pascoe only have Sodium Chloride as an additive. All injections are saline because our bodies are salind . Without it , it would sting while our bodies turned that liquid saline .
How exactly are you reacting? Did you try my previous recommendation?
" Does the SC jab start itching immediately or a little while after? If the latter, I had the same problem. I started putting a tissue between my tummy & trousers, as a sort of barrier. I leave it there at least 30 minutes or so. Never had a problem since. I suspect it had something to do with sweat interacting with the injection site. Hope that helps! "
hi thank you. I haven’t done one since as I had GP jab on Monday. Will try but I think it’s the additive in this- vinegar and sodium acetate . If I react again after trying your way I will sell them if allowed they have a shelf life 06/25.
Hi smg, you're welcome! Let us know how it goes.
I suspect it's not an allergic reaction because the ones from your doctor also likely have the additives you mention. For example, the German Panpharma is also distributed in the UK (after rebranding I believe) and frequently used in doctor's offices, so it's quite possible you're getting the same exact thing. And if IM is fine, then it's possible your reaction with SC is due to the skin/sweat issue. I hope so anyway
Just to update still itchy in tummy and thigh but ok kind of low bottom!
Thanks for the update I'm sorry to hear that. But this is interesting.
It sounds like maybe you need to try Pascoe hydroxy - it has fewer ingredients and may cause less of a reaction. Or the Cyano form perhaps?
A few other thoughts :
- Are these reactions on the Hevert 2mL (I just saw you posted)? or also on Panpharma? If Hevert - 2mL may be too much liquid for subcut especially in the tummy. You could try injecting half that amount (and then just inject more frequently).
- Do you swab with alcohol before injecting? If so, do you make sure it dries first?
- What length needles are you using? I started out with short needles but found that 1/2" (13mm) needles worked better. This is considered "deep subcut". If your needles are too short, perhaps too much liquid is pooling right under the skin, if it's not getting deep enough. The fact that bum is ok made me think of this - the skin there is likely thicker and perhaps reacts less strongly. Please note that 1/2" is the maximum length for subcut, so anything longer needs to be IM and injected in the right location in thigh or arm.
- Can you learn to inject IM at home or is there someone living with you that would be willing to learn?
x
Hi thanks for your thoughts. I’m using Panpharma and have sent for a few Pasco to see if any effects with those. I haven’t used the Hervert yet. I couldn’t manage IM and no one to have a go but I’ll carry on eod with Panpharma for now and let you know when the others arrive
I have a mold allergy and one thing I strictly avoid is vinegar (and all things fermented) I was worried about the vinegar in the Pan Pharma shots, but I have not noticed a reaction to it. (And I am very sensitive). That said it is possible the vinegar could be affecting you. Maybe you just try one and see how you do? Even though many will say to you “awww…it’s such a tiny amount”…my response to that is “yes, and a little bit of poison can kill you.”
Trust yourself to make this decision. Our bodies are all very unique.
