I was diagnosed with GCA in November and was started on 40mg of prednisone.
I experienced really bad steroid induced diabetes which seems a bit more in control now. I am currently down to 8mg of Prednisone, then 120mg of Glyclazide and 500mg of Metformin for the diabetes In the last few days I have felt very depressed and anxious. I am not sure if this is related to my

Continued Journey
Day +14: I am presently unhooked from my medication pole. It is a great feeling to be able to be more mobile around my “suite”. Accommodations here quite nice considering what most hospital rooms are like. it has been a rough go with a certain amount of nausea, lack of energy, and G.I. situations

4 days post op..box change
After my last post I wrote about me aspirating a bit of sandwich that resulted in a.wheeze. I got given steroids and antibiotics the week upto.the op. I went in on Friday morning and the doc wasn't happy, long and short of it I had to have bloods done, so instead of being 2nd on the list I was last.

degenerate spine pain and steroids
a simple question that’s in my mind, but hubby with chronic pain (either arthritis in the hip and/or pain from his degenerative spine) I just wonder why Prednisolone isn’t offered as a pain relief med?

THE END (hopefully)
After 3&1/2 years of PMR , I have finally come off the steroids… woo hoo. During that time I have reduced down to 1 mg but each time I had to go back up again due to pain coming back. The journey with PMR has been pretty rubbish but I realised you have to be patient and listen to your body. I wish everyone

Waiting diagnosis/meds
Hi all, happy Saturday. Since March I have been experiencing dreadful aches and pains in my arms wrists shoulders and hands to the point I thought I'd broken my wrists. A trip to the doctor resulted in a referral to rheumatology and series of blood tests where it seemed my ESR and CRP were raised,

Four months into GCA and now suspected trigeminal neuralgia - updated to dental
Update: now confirmed dental (after being told definitely not). On Amoxilcillin for 10 days for an infection. Relieved although I could have done without the unnecessary week of pain ha ha. This is my first post/question. I am almost 5 months in, from first becoming ill, and 7 weeks from a diagnosis

PMR/GCA monitoring and bone supplements
Hi recently diagnosed with PMR and just started course of steroids in the last week. Doctor has now sent me the tapering programme for following year. As I have osteopenia of the femur he has suggested I take supplements for my bones. Either calcium and vit D or bisphosponates? Any advice on which

Hi all - I’m new to this group and looking for some advice. Sorry in advance for the long post! I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and diabetes (2) in 2014. I was put on meds for both conditions without any proper guidance or support from my GP practice. I did a lot of research myself and both
