Hi all today i had surgery for a squint in my left eye which is my weak eye. I have wet AMD in both eyes and have Eyelea injections. Also have ocular hypertension in both eyes and use drops. What fun! I have been given Maxitrol drops 4 x times daily for 2 week then 2 x times daily for the following 2 weeks. I know steroids are not good for AMD and feeling concerned. I'd like to praise all the doctors and staff at the fantastic Kings College hospital for their care Advice please!!!! Many thanks .

I am guessing in the pre op appointment you went through with them about your other eye issues and deemed it safe to take. I am guessing it’s a steroid. I had my first cataract done 3 weeks ago and we added another glaucoma drop into the mix as steroids make my iop higher. I guess you have a post op too check all is ok. Hoping recovery goes well for you
Hi tallyho I know from previously that you have similar eye issues to me. I also have ocular hypertension and my pressures always hover around 25 . The retina clinic always have to add drops before my injection. I did mention all this at my surgery but did not realise the maxitrol caused high IOP until I got home and read the leaflet. I will use them over the weekend and ring my glaucoma secretary on Monday. Thanks for your help (as always).
Hi EthelPledge94, I hope your eye heals well and I'm sure the doctors and staff at KCH appreciate your comments. I have wet amd in my left eye and I know we're all different but I've had Maxitrol drops in the past with no problems - hope you don't get any either. 😊
