Sorry you are having to go through this right now.

Can you explain what you mean by relief?

From the polymyalgia pain..I just can't seem to get any sleep .can't get comfy at all.

In that case then your medication probably needs reviewing… however the higher doses you have been prescribed for GCA should sort that out. Although they may disturb your sleep, but that’s a different issue altogether.

In bio you mention fibromyalgia- so are you sure it’s all PMR pain?

You may just need a new mattress…

It's pmr and now I've got GSA lost some sight. On 60mg steroids at the moment .but I think it's fibro kicked in to.

I would think more likely Fibro , as I said the 60mg will certainly have all PMR pains under control, and hopefully most of the GCA as well. Sorry to hear about sight loss.. know all about that.

Please let us know how things go for you..

The lack of sleep is probably due to the high dose pred.

I did purchase an adjustable bed for arthritic shoulders etc -but other than making life easier for changing bedding can’t say it had any effect on my GCA .

The correct dose of Pred will give you relief..and like SnazzyD not sure what you are expecting from it.. except the adjustable top helping you get out of bed…

Hi Mouse61! I have same conditions as you. I don't know how I'd manage without my electric bed where both ends can go up and down, and there's a also a variable vibrating option. It wasn't cheap, even second-hand. Pulled intercostals in ribs in sides and back (lifted stuff too heavy) are causing excruciating pain atm. I'd thoroughly recommend such a bed!

I have the same, but through periods in hospital found the hospital beds did not help my fibro at all! I bought a new mattress, so much cheaper & it helped a lot. The Dr assessed & change my pills & that has helped, too. The large doses of steroids at the beginning of my PMR helped my sleep, but then affected it & disturbed it a lot, too! People with fibromyalgia are known to have disturbed sleep & sleep deprivation, it’s all part of the ‘fun’! The hospital beds are very expensive, even second hand. Be sure it’s not just the rest & medication that’s helping you in hospital, rather than just the bed…that’s my thoughts!!

Hi, i was prescribed an electric raiser and recliner for my bed by the OT. It fits neatly under the head of my mattress and I push the button and the head half of my mattress raises and then I can press the button to lower it. It means I can sit comfortably in bed which is by far my most comfortable place. X

Hi, does it push your mattress down the bed by rising it? xx

No, the foot of my bed is about 2” higher than the mattress otherwise it would.
