Hi. I am 10 months post thyroidectomy. I am well and am on 180ndt a day as a single dose. My GP is telling me he is concerned about such a high dose and feels I am using the NDT as a stimulant to live my active lifestyle. My GP has told me he is worried about me and the 180ndt is as addictive as nicotine

PSA testing comparison question
I know that PSA results can vary, particularly if processed by different labs. Knowing this, I do have a question. Quick recap, I completed 20 rounds of radiation at UCLA with Kishan back in April of this year. At the same time, I began 6 months of ADT. Over the past few months, while getting my

PSMA scans and radiation of oligometastases
I need some advice on a subject that I know has been covered before: PSMA scans and radiation of oligometastases. G4+5=9, RP in 2014. Positive margins, IMRT and ADT in 2015. PSA undetectable until 2019, now slowly rising at 0.40, doubling time 11 months. My questions/concerns about the scan

More drug news
I seem to have posted quite a lot about my experiences with drugs recently. I seem to be on a downward spiral and a learning curve at the same time - but not getting much relief from drugs for one reason or another. My last post was about Propranolol and I posted here because I was concerned about

To those who have read Dr Richard Wassersug's book....
As mentioned in other posts, off Erleada as it's contraindicated in my treatment of Multiple Myeloma. I was just approved for Zytiga. Hurray for me. Anyway, I have not read his book yet but it's on my list. I recently watched his Tube Video and found it interesting but covered other higher priority

Does testosterone fluctuate after ADT ends?
My treatment (Radiation/Lupron/Abirateron/Prednisone) ended on May 2. Gradually my testosterone began to come back. In August it was at 3 nmol/L and in Oct 6 it was 11 nmol/L so it is on a upward trend as can be expected. However I am wondering if there are up and down fluctuations because while

Go-forward Treatment Plan
First of all, I've been an avid reader of this forum over the past 2 years, and wanted to express my gratitude towards the amount of knowledge everyone has been sharing on this site. Former patients of the late Dr Gordon Skinner
This post has two purposes. First, so that everyone knows about the research itself. Second, so that anyone who does feel strongly can make use of the opt-out. While hoping that few, if any, use this opt-out, it is nonetheless right and proper that each and every former patient knows of this opt-out

hello. I would not recommend high dose melatonin for us who are on ADT and abiraterone. Impairs dexterity and cognitive ability.

Psa doubled in less than a month
I had 10 infusions of Doxytaxel. I started reading about the consequences of CDK12 and was concerned that since I have this mutation doxy was not a treatment of choice. After giving time for the PSA to settle I had a test which showed that it doubled in close to 3 months. In preparation for a CT and

Meridian Viewray is toast. Can Cyberkife machines use MRI the same way?
Just was unenrolled in a Phase I clinical trial using the Meridian Viewray machine at Dana Farber. Meridian went belly-up in the summer, and the hospital (Brigham and Women’s in Boston) will cease using that machine in October 25th. Looking for substitutes. Thinking that Cyberknife machines can also

Thyroid medication update
So presently taking 60 NDT and 25 t4 synthroid. I couldn't tolerate 90 ndt so my doctor gave me 25 t4 as a slower release and doesn't hit as hard as ndt. So it seems this addition of t4 has helped me. My sleep is better, my eyebrows filling in more, the few pounds I was holding onto seem to have dropped

I got some doubts about the know-how of my oncologist
I met with my oncologist last Friday and either I am confused or she is. I am open for both scenario. :) This post is sort of a follow-up on another I did back in August: https://healthunlocked.com/advanced-prostate-cancer/posts/149892314/need-help-in-understanding-psa-level-recurrence-after-treatment

Urinary bother; is Flomax a solution?
SBRT plus ADT for 12 months after clean PSMA and 3+4, 4+3, and 4+4. Still up peeing 3 times a night after 4.5 months post radiation. (Down from 8 times). Does anyone know if Flomax will help? Or are there other solutions? I don’t want to take flomax if i don’t have yo as it screws with BP, but i will

1st PSA Post SBRT + ADT: A Bounce?
I had a diagnosis of Gleason 3+4, probable ECE; Decipher .63. Received 5 Fraction SBRT at MSKCC (Dr. Zelefsky) in early January of this year. 6 months of ADT (Orgovyx) ended May 23, 2023. At the end of ADT, my PSA was <0.05 and Testosterone was 4. My first PSA Test was last Wednesday at Penn Medicine
