Thyroid medication update

So presently taking 60 NDT and 25 t4 synthroid. I couldn't tolerate 90 ndt so my doctor gave me 25 t4 as a slower release and doesn't hit as hard as ndt. So it seems this addition of t4 has helped me. My sleep is better, my eyebrows filling in more, the few pounds I was holding onto seem to have dropped off*although still holding a bit around the waistline which for me is due to adrenal fatigue and my insomnia I battle with, still working on this*

I will post my labs below on 60 ndt and 25 t4 synthroid

Free t3 4.4 (3-6.5)

Free t4 16.2 (10-25)

Tsh .04 (.20-6.5)

Vit b12 1200

Iron 13 (8-25)

Total iron binding capacity 46 umol/L

Iron saturation .28 (.10-.55)

My thyroid labs just on 60 ndt BEFORE adding the 25 synthroid

Free t3 3.8 (3-6.5)

Free t4 10.6 (10-25)

Tsh .64 (.20-6.5)

So you can see comparing the 2 lab results adding the 25 t4 synthroid lowered my tsh to pretty much non existent. My Free t3 and Free t4 went up.

Do I worry with such a suppressed tsh?

Would you express to me your thoughts? Am I optimal ? I mean I can not raise my meds anymore then thus I'll have 0 tsh. Plus I don't think I couod handle anymore meds.

I feel my thyroid is optimal with how I feel with the raise of adding the 25 t4. I finally got my sex hormones balanced via bio identical hormones.

I now need to work on more detox. I've done heavy metals and need to do another heavy metal detox and parasites. I've never felt strong enough to do many detoxes due to how fragile I've always been. I still don't sleep through the night which is a histamine issue....I also have comt and mao. But I have improved a lot in the last year. I've been at this 13 years it hasn't been easy. I could never raise my meds without crashing.

Anyway would love any feedback. Thank you

Hello Nora - I'm sorry you have had no replies :

Well if you feel better taking a mix of 2 treatment options so be it -

I take NDT and increased my dose by 1/4 grains -

so you might have found 1 +1/4 grains your optimal dose -

and yes this second set of blood tests looks much better - was this after around 6-8 weeks after introducing the T4.

I don't know much about iron and have no idea what ' comt or mao ' mean - sorry.

Comt and mao are genetic genes I have that are not properly methylating for me. So COMT and MAO, I don't break down catecholimines well or dopamine well. I don't handle B vit well due to these genes not working as well.

Yes I was on this dose a good 3 months before blood work and didn't take my my meds before I tested.

Thank you for your reply

Hi I took NDT for over seven years Thyroid s. 1.25 at around 6am and the other one around 1.30pm one hour after lunch. Split up this may help you to raise your NDT by 1/4 grain

1/4 grains make a difference. I don't know about mixing NDT with Levo, sorry.

It usually lasts around 6 hours so this would also help you. Armour is much faster acting but you can buy smaller amounts which could help you.

I do take my meds split over the day....I couldn't tolerate taking that full dose ar once. So I split it 3 x a day.

Im super sensitive. I'm lucky to be tolerating thr above doses. I've been at this 13 years. And it's been a journey of working on all my health stuff.

This is the first time I could raise my meds. I've done ndt in small crumb doses and can't get above 60 NDT. I think the t3 hits me too hard in the ndt. So that's why my functional med doc added t4 only. Finally able to raise my dose.

I'm thinking my numbers look good. I mean my tsh is non existent and that's a concern. Although my functional doc said it's fine. If I feel feel fine.

Were you on Armour? I was taking Thyroid s for years it's slower release. I had to give away my Armour purchased last year because of the very fast reaction. I am so pleased that you are feeling fine now, good luck.
