Why do we use IFN-α vs IFN-β? Might IFN-β be preferred?
I've discussed IFN types before. Some interesting info here that INF-β might be better to reduce inflammation/progression. ---- A recent post noted that Interferon is used for MS disease. This is the other IFN type 1, IFN-β (vs our IFN-α). I checked into why the difference. It turns out there

Help for brain - some herbs and vitamins
I recently found out about Gotu Kola which is found in some teas and can help against Alzheimer’s and promote tranquility. Also jasmine flowers can help fight against Alzheimer’s as can Ginko Biloba a as no Omega 3 fish oils. I wanted to share for those of you interested in improving brain health.

Managing Anxiety
I had my liver biopsy yesterday, so now the waiting begins for the pathology results. Will be trying to manage the level of anxiety over the next few days by staying busy at work and around the house doing projects. Also will be practicing mindfulness along the way. Any other suggestions as to managing

Does Anyone Else Feel This Way?
So I’ve been thinking that I’m going to lose my sanity. I’ll look at things and be like “yep it’s going to move and I’ll lose my mind”. It’s like I’m over analyzing and gauging my anxiety. Almost like I’m WAITING to lose my mind. I just started my 50mg Zoloft. On day 5. Started at 25mg. No attacks, but

Bisphosphonates and joint problems - are these related?
For the second time this year I am about to have surgery to remove bone from a joint. In May this year I had a cheilectomy to remove bone from my big toe joint. I am now going to have surgery to remove bone from my collarbone (where there are bony spurs) and a decompression of my acromioclavicular joint

A Different View on Bone Protection
Replied to a question about bone protective medications on another forum today, and thought it might be of interest to some here at FPC. So pasting it here. Full disclosure: I have been taking denosumab (Prolia or Xgeva) for over 5 years and currently have normal bone density. I also take Calcium supplement

Another anxiety attack 😖
Ugh!!! It is sad when you have been med free and panic free so long that it absolutely turns your world upside down when panic rears it's ugly head.I had a real doozy of a panic attack Friday night. All the old symptoms, but scarier because I had forgotten how scary it really is. I pushed through it,

First time dealing with anxiety. I need guidance.
I have developed anxiety due to my sons developmental delays. You can say it triggered it and has caused me to become overwhelmed with negative thoughts. I blamed myself for his delay and I overthink everything. At times I don’t know how to help him or if he will get better. His future worries me. Am

Sertraline increased anxiety
Hi All, I was started on sertraline 25mg 3 weeks ago for anxiety/panic disorder. My anxiety spiked like crazy the first week and seemed to calm down a bit. I'm on week 3 and still feel more anxious compared to before I started the medication. Anyone else have this reaction when starting on SSRI?

zinc supplements
hi everyone, I’m back hoping for advice please. I’ve just seen my GP regarding my latest blood tests. Her answer to most of the results are you’re fine they’re in the normal range. My zinc levels are 12.6 umol/L (11.0-24). Should I take zinc supplements at this level? I’m already taking D3+K2 and my

Donating unused Vitamins
Hi, how is best to go about donating unused vitamins and where takes them? They are unused blister packs of Omega 3 capsules. Got tons of them as I take the other supplement but get them in the same box. Seems a shame to waste them. Thanks!

Increasing to 50mg Zoloft
First day taking 50mg of my Zoloft. Anxiety has been bad the last few days so my doctor wants me to increase. He says it should help a lot. I just don’t want increased anxiety from this increase… I have my Clonazepam .5mg and Hydroxyzine 50mg for emergencies.

Lexapro and Celexa reviews
I have suffered from depression and anxiety all my life, have never taken antidepressants and have tried to cope, some days are better than others. Lately, I have been tormented with feelings of guilt from bad decisions I had made in the past. I try to avoid the negative thoughts but they keep coming

Any Advice?
Recently I’ve been suffering from anxiety and depression. I feel completely disconnected from my 2 year old and told my husband today I didn’t want to be a mother anymore. I wanted this baby more than anything in the world, and I suffered some PPD that I left untreated. I thought maybe it had gone away

osteoporosis and products to help
hi everyone. Been on alendronic acid for about 4 months but have had a small problem of irritation in my throat, causing coughing. Coughing is painful, having 4 spinal fractures in April. I’ve now been asked to change to zolondronic acid, yearly infusion. This is NOT the same as denusomab.

Brilliant review with pharmacist
Hi Everyone I’m just back from a review of my medication for PMR and high blood pressure with the surgery pharmacist. He was great and to me had a better understanding of this condition than any of the gp’s I’ve spoken to on the phone. He did admit that they don’t always understand the interactions
