Hearing has improved
Thanks again for your support and advice re: my sudden severe hearing loss. I went to Charing Cross Hospital Audiology & Otology. I have to say I felt I was having 5* care. The audiologist said my hearing had improved after the high dose steroids (and boy was it great not having OA feet or any aches

Off topic - love my rheumy
Had an excellent telephone consultation with my rheumy today. Have an awful long lasting flare which has just subsided and having to go for a colonoscopy after positive bowel screening test, and he was very helpful. Apologised that it was not a face to face but said that was his trust policy, but would

Steroid injections
Hi there, I've just joined the site, has anyone had steroid injections on scalp? I have agreed to have this done but the dermatologist I spoke to told me it is painful and also gives you dermatitis and that they can only do a small area as too much steroid can cause Cushings disease. I have my appointment

Extremely dry mouth
Hello all So I've had my appointment and been told it's most likely PsA. Back on hydroxychloroquine and etoricoxab ? a strong NSAID and had a steroid injection in my shoulder by the consultant which took a while to take effect and has now worn off. I'm also on my top dose of Topiramate for migraines

New RA diagnosis, feeling anxious!
Hello everyone I'm new to this forum, I'm not even sure what I'm looking for really, reassurance that I will feel normal again? I was diagnosed with RA a few weeks ago and have started sulfasalazine and hydroxychloriquine and will probably need to add methotrexate too as my disease is very active.

Spinal injections
Hello all, In addition to NASH i am bit unlucky in getting into troubles with spine which causes chronic pain. My spinal consultant does not offer spinal injections as he says that steroids are risky in terms of NASH and fibrosis. Not sure if anyone else have had same dilemma, and what they have been

Feel good photo
I thought I would share this of my grandson and hound sharing an ice cream as it made me smile watching their friendship grow. I don’t speak much on here but have learnt loads thanks to all of you. I got my head around lupus and the changes I should make. I am now taking hydroxychloroquine and azathioprine

interesting info re. steroid injections
Hi all my next rheum appointment is 9th August so I'm keeping my posts to only when I have something useful to offer! I had physio Thursday and we discussed steroid pills versus injections. To recap I had requested injection into my shoulder (although all my arms joints hurt, the right was agony) but

Sooo Frustrated!!!
I had a phone appt last week to discuss my going onto biologics as the only DMARD I can tolerate is up to 17.5 of MTX and I am in constant pain. I was diagnosed wth inflammatory arthritis in 2013 and have been on MTX ever since, with other DMARDs added then discarded. I had been told by my Rhuemy nurse

F2f this morning
After missing 5 days of barcitnib 5 weeks ago I’ve just not picked up and haven’t got back to where I was . I rang the helpline 2 weeks ago asking for a steroid but new nurse useless said no and wouldn’t listen to my explanation so ended up with a f2f . Upshot was I got a steroid injection. Apparently

Long term tocilizumab use
Hello all - I wonder if anyone has experience of long term tocilizumab use. I have been having injections every 4 weeks. I began weekly and gradually moved to 4 weekly. I have been on TZ for 3 1/2 years now. I am now getting fairly regular relapses - especially after overdoing it. Have felt really

I feel i’ve caught MRSA at my Infusion Clinic. Anyone else had this?
I sometimes read the posts on here. But i’m not a ‘regular’. I’ve had RA since i was 21. (Turned 50 last month!) I have an Infliximab infusion every 6 weeks. I have iritis & glaucoma too. I’ve been getting serious ear infections since Nov 2019. Recurring all the bloody time. I’ve been feeling exhausted

Face to face appointment with rheumatology nurse today....I stamped my painful feet (metaphorically speaking)
Evening Peeps 🙂 Well, what day! Lots of ðŸ˜lots of speaking my mind and lots of demands - I'd had enough! I saw my rheumatology clinical nurse who I usually see nowadays - she's lovely. She asked me how I was....that was it - I just burst into floods of tears ðŸ˜ðŸ˜I'm always wobbly when anyone asks

Hi. I have just turned 41 and was in so much pain in the last 2 months. I was diagnosed in April with bulging / herniated disc on L5/S1 and also degenarative disc disease. Sitting or standing and even walking makes my pain worse. Night time the pain is at it's worse. Pain is in my lower back, left buttock

Positive vibes with less pain
Taking a different road today and going down the positive vibe road. Waited a week to make sure I wasn’t premature in my happiness. Went last Wednesday for bilateral fluoroscopy guided steroid L5 epidural for my back pain. I was definitely nervous but the physician doing the procedure was so nice
