Advice covid vac steroid injection

Hi all not had my covid vac yet as in flare now have to go have steroid injection any advice anyone had covid vac after steroid injection and how long did you wait x

It has been recommended that you delay a steroid injection for a few weeks after the vaccine is given. If you can't it is probably at least a month or so before the level is low enough to not affect the immune response - to some extent it will depend on the dose administered.

However - everyone on the PMRGCAuk forum has had their vaccine while taking daily oral steroids, probably at a higher dose than you receive as a result of the i.m. injection. It is what we take to manage the illness and you can't stop it so we have no choice. Have we developed an immune response? I had my first Pfizer vaccine and a week later I had a steroid injection into a trigger point in my neck. It was a very small dose but the benefit from the steroid outweighed the risk to me as I couldn't move my neck and was having constant migraine.

I've just spoken to my consultant who has advised to continue to shield as much as possible until 6 weeks after my second jab.

I hope that helps. I got over my first Jab fairly well considering.

I had to leave a 3 week gap between Covid jab and my steroid injection. The reason being that the steroid given too close would reduce the effectiveness of the Covid jab x

Hi Ruby3333 I had to delay my steroid injection for 14 days after my covid jab I was told by the doctor giving me the jab that you have to have at least 14 days either before covid jab or after.
