I thought I would share this of my grandson and hound sharing an ice cream as it made me smile watching their friendship grow.
I don’t speak much on here but have learnt loads thanks to all of you. I got my head around lupus and the changes I should make. I am now taking hydroxychloroquine and azathioprine (only week 2 for the second), plus I had a steroid injection after my worst flare to date!
Anyway my point is I have now slept 3 nights in a row without being woken by pain! I have woken as my body is used to being awake but the pain didn’t wake me. This has been a first is over 2 years! I think I forgot how to be relaxed.
Thanks again to all that post on here. It was just the push and encouragement I needed.

That’s Fabulous NannyDonna that your pain is now under control- it takes a while to get all the medication right as everyone is so different - yes this forum is great for picking up aload of information - your grandson is absolutely adorable and so is your little dog, what a lovely picture xxx
Thank you. I could not have got down to that level to take the photo a couple of weeks ago. I am hopeful that this medication works for me and it is not just the steroid injection. I obviously still have pain and stiff but in comparison to how I normally feel, I feel great xx
To be fair my grandson ate less than a third of it before feeding to the dog…. Then went in for that cheeky last lick as I was taking the photo 🙈 We lost our shepherd a year ago and miss her every day. She had a good life but I feel us humans were lucky to have her ♥️
And some of the best medicine.great photo .Well done for getting down to take it and for getting up again 😁 .I hope you will chat some more with us doesn't always have to be about lupus post like these lift spirits so much.Great news about meds.i hope azathioprine helps you.i made it to 7 weeks then developed drug induced hepatitis so it didn't work for me. Best wishes SML X
That must have been such a let down for you. I can’t imagine how I would feel if this doesn’t work. Have they found something else that works for you? X
Yes after waiting 3 months for my liver to recover Ive now been on mycophenolate for 2 years.dont get downhearted there are other drugs to try its just a case of finding the combo that works for you x
Yeah I am glad of the break from the pain and constant tiredness. If it doesn’t work I will still be thankful for this time. It is a relief to know they have got the right medication for you. My lupus nurse says the hope is to get the medication right and lupus levels low to under 9 with no flares for a year. She says the aim is I go into remission and can lower or even come of the meds. I have read many chats on here and not seen anyone say they are in remission. I hope this is real and likely to happen x
Thank you. I can’t believe the difference in just 10 days. I know it is probably the steroids but I hope the new meds have something to do with it so it last. What a difference not to feel pain before your feet even hit the floor in the morning. I walked up the stairs last night without holding on! I called on my daughter to come see. I was so excited x
Oh that is amazing. Whatever has caused such a huge difference I sincerely hope that it continues. The first thing I think of when I wake up is what is hurting today so I would be delighted too. Xx
