How did you know you were losing your kidney?
hi all - I posted here a few months ago freaking out about my creatinine spiking after many years of stability. It’s been months of trial and error and I’m at my wits end and would just like to get a sense from others what it was like or how it felt when your transplanted kidney started failing you.

Prednisone for FET - any experience
Good evening ☀️, Hope everyone is well. Last minute question as usual from me, as my follow up is tomorrow morning 😬. Think I like to ignore it for as long as possible. Basically I have now had 9 embryo transfers of 10 embryos (one double). I had one early miscarriage March 2021 (pre 7 weeks) and

I have Lupus and APS it’s all under control with steroids and warfarin. I’m trying to lose weight so am going to aqua fit more often. I quite often get giddy when I overdo it but recently my eyesight has gone as though I have bright lights shining in my eyes. I was wondering if anyone else has this

Good diet so no need for Adcal?
I asked my GP (again!)about taking Adcal and explained that a lot of people on this forum were automatically prescribed it when put on steroids. GP asked about my diet and said I was getting plenty of calcium in my diet. He said calcium and Vitamin D levels were good on my last blood test and the DEXA

Update on swollen eye, low potassium and low BP now hypothyroid issues.
Finally got an emergency blood test yesterday, results today, GP did not ask for potassium which my symptoms were an exact match to low levels! As expected with the high dose of steroids, results all over the place. Liver (Moorfields thought it was the steroids last week), kidneys now and thyroid TSH

methotrexate and steroid reduction
Dear all I am anxious about an appointment with the rheumatology nurse on Tuesday. I have been taking methotrexate , without any side effects for ten weeks now. I was expected to reduce to 12.5 mg preds from 14.5. I really want to reduce my preds, as I’ve had and continue to have, side effects. However

Neuro-opthalmologist's order for pulse steroid therapy for good eye~! GCA
This morning, I had a visual field exam by this doctor and exam. Sadly, I had a few small blind spots (new) in my right eye, my good eye. Upon exam, he could see the optic nerve of my good eye was swollen. Last night and this morning, I had intermittent pain that started over the blind eye and pressure

Shoulder pain.
Hi relatively new here diagnosed October 2023 with GCA. I've tapered off my steroids now completely and am on Roactemra. Recently blooda showed low neutrophils so now take Roactemra fortnightly. Recently have had a very painful shoulder GP thinks rotor cuff. Wondering is it related in anyway to GCA

Feelings of disappointment
With having Lupus and a few other conditions, being on steroids and suffering from anxiety and depression, not having a job or voluntary job, I find that I just can’t stop feelings of disappointment from arising when ‘things go wrong’. People cancelling meet ups, people cancelling coming to your birthday

Update from GP re blood in urine
Phone call first thing from Surgery. Please could you drop in a fresh urine sample. OK yes no problem, take it to GP surgery and nurse says, "will test now" Hm yes still very small traces of blood and also small evidence of Leuokocytes, could be due to UTI. Just check with GP, she says, GP

Plaquenil for PMR
Hello has anyone taken Plaquenil to help reduce steroids for PMR? did it work? any side effects? My Rheumy says it's better to be on Plaquenil than steroids long term so it's worth trying because I'm having trouble getting off steroids. I've been on Methylprednisolone for 2.5 years, currently

On 60 mgs, potassium low, magnesium low, cramps, dizzy, fatigue ,the runs etc...
Due to reduce to 40mgs tomorrow but really feeling very strange, balance off, BP low for me, I'm on 2 x meds for BP which are contraindicated with steroids as should increase BP?? The symptoms are consistent with low potassium levels (call from hospital to tell me that) but worsening. Eating everything

maybe not PMR!
hello - i saw my consultant rhematologist last week and he doesnt think i have PMR - or at least it’s atypical. If atypical then thats a management problem. So he says steroids are masking symptoms and also causes and im using them as painkiller so he's taking me off them over 6 weeks to see whats really

Biotin and cold exposure are complete no brainers.
I haven’t posted in a while. I hope everyone is good. I limit myself because I believe for me, PD became an obsession. I forgot how to live. Many of you know I said b2 was a no brainer. Read my previous posts. Scientists in Japan found that PD patients have messed up guts that inhibit the absorption

Has Anyone Ever Used Methotrexate In Lieu of Pred?
I was diagnosed with PMR two years ago and took pred for a year. I had to stop due to worsening of my depression, development of fatty liver, and total cholesterol of 10mmol/L (this was July 2023, I had successfully got down to 2mg pred). At the same time I was diagnosed with an an autoimmune liver
