New to PMR Question
Hi, only been diagnosed with PMR just over a month ago. GP started me on 15mg pred. initially for 3 weeks . Did well and symptoms reduced by around 60-70%, I was extremely happy to be more mobile. Review day came and GP was equally pleased with my progress and immediately reduced the pred down to 12mg

aching legs while tapering Prednisolone
I have been successfully tapering my Prednisolone dose by 1mg a month since October last year. My CRP scores have not got beyond 2 for the past 8 months and I have no symptoms of GCA. Hurrah. But in the last 3-4 weeks I have suffered aches in both legs, front and back, day and night, and I get very tired

chronic diarrhoea
I reduced to 5mg from 5.5 on 25/06. After about a week had intense nausea, headache for 2 days. From last week I’ve had chronic diarrhoea and stomach cramps. Literally as soon as I eat they come on and I go again. Gp has said it would be nothing to do with tapering. Also said I didn’t need to add more

prednisolone and excess sweating
I find myself really struggling on humid days; even when it’s not particularly hot. I know that this may be a side-effect of prednisolone but I’m on a very small dose of 3 mg daily. However, I did have a booster shot of steroids about four weeks ago due to a long term flair. The jab is really helping

Worried- pressure at 5 at trabeculectomy follow up today
Has anyone had to deal with low pressure after trabeculecyomy? I had the fourth of my weekly post- trabeculectomy follow ups today. The pressure was 5. Before the operation the pressure was consistently around 15. Week one after surgery it was 15, week two, 17 ( then stitch removed) Week 3 was 20. Stitch

Why taking anti-inflammatories including Pred could lead to a stomach ulcer
Dr Mark Porter who is a working GP writes most weeks in The Times. The link to today's article is below because he mentions steroids as well. I hope it opens. If it doesn't I can cut a paste the parts of interest. https://www.thetimes.com/article/184977ba-beb6-4db5-ad10-62e8fbb57add?shareToken=caa43823ee68fa182865e92faa5502b2

Feeling doomed today
Please can I ask for you thoughts and opinions, I understand it’s not medical advice and I’m speaking to Rheumatology but I need real like experience that only others on here have really. I came off Baracitinib in Jan because not really effective and affecting my lipids adversely. Then onto Tocilizumab

Suspected flare - ? When to up the steroids
Hi, I’m posting this query although I think I know what the answer will be. It’s almost 4 years since my PMR diagnosis. The lowest dose of Prednisolone I’ve managed so far is 8.5 mg. I’ve successfully reduced from 10mg at the start of January 24 (.5 mg at a time) using the DSNS (5 weeks) to 8.5 mg

A maternal brain hormone that builds bone - Nature - Published: 10 July 2024
[i]This recent research paper in Nature is potentially ground-breaking for the understanding of essential mechanisms involved with bone health. It's findings are related to hormonal changes during the start of mid-pregnancy lactation and early newborn nurturing that could possibly lay the foundation

The ‘100 day cough’ - possible use of steroids
I came off steroids at the end of January this year, after 4 years in total for PMR. I have what has been termed the 100 day cough that persists - for 12 weeks and counting. I’ve been informed that I have post infection inflammation and an inhaler has been prescribed (I’m on my second). It has two drugs

Not how I expected to celebrate 1 year anniversary from heart attack 🤦🏼🤣
13th July 2023 I felt very funny after a tough yoga class, drive home had brunch and still felt funny. It developed into what I thought was trapped wind , I ended up with paramedics taking me to hospital and trop count confirmed I had a heart attack ! Total shock to me , my family and friends. A

Hi everyone. Been awake since 630am again with worry, I need your sensible heads! 🚨🆘️⚠️ Long long story short I'm 6 weeks pregnant today (supposedly 🤯) and I feel no symptoms at all and haven't the entire time. The only thing is mild-ish but noticeable period type cramping (had a couple of more intense

Sorry for the long post. For the last few months I haven't been good with this pain in my ear/eye/teeth that the neurologist put down to trigeminal neuralgia and gave me epilepsy tablets that have made me very tired and haven't really stopped the pain. About a month ago I had a really bad pain in my

Overactive thyroid diagnosis following blood test for vit B12 and folate deficiency prompted by tingling symptoms.
Whatever next?! I'm currently at 5 mg prednisolone slow tapering, and this latest diagnosis seems to be another reason for the periods of intense fatigue! and I was blaming the steroids! Is it both? I will talk to a clinician on 6th August (if I'm not lucky enough to get an earlier appointment).

I was diagnosed with GCA in November and was started on 40mg of prednisone.
I experienced really bad steroid induced diabetes which seems a bit more in control now. I am currently down to 8mg of Prednisone, then 120mg of Glyclazide and 500mg of Metformin for the diabetes In the last few days I have felt very depressed and anxious. I am not sure if this is related to my

Continued Journey
Day +14: I am presently unhooked from my medication pole. It is a great feeling to be able to be more mobile around my “suite”. Accommodations here quite nice considering what most hospital rooms are like. it has been a rough go with a certain amount of nausea, lack of energy, and G.I. situations
