Steroid injections

Living abroad, I had, on average, about two steroid injections a year for 3/4 yrs (in the buttocks) whenever I was in a bad flare. Immediate relief for 4-8 weeks. My now UK Rheumy simply said ‘we don’t do that here’ How often is it ok to have a steroid jab?

Steroid injections for back pain.

Over 18 months to 2 years I had 3 steroid injections into my spine. No one told me about risks. Last November I had my leg straightened. This resulted in more scoliosis, 2 cracked vertebrae and 2 slipped discs with vertebrae pressing on each other. The pain is horrible. I can barely walk.

Little Update!

Well today I had my first lot of steroid injections into my scar to try and reduce the keloid and help with the tissue around my scar which at times can be stingy. Also had to see my cardiologist as an emergency outpatient due to extreme oedema in my feet and legs.

Are There Any Non Steroid Pain Injections available on the NHS for joint pain?

Can you get any non steroid based pain injections for joint and back pain on the NHS? If so , do you know what they are called , and where you need to get referred for them? If there aren't any within the NHS , has anybody had them privately , and were they successful?

Steroid injections

I am about to have some injections in my neck spine that contain steroids to ease headaches. Will these steroids reduce my immune system yet further and for how long?

Steroid injections?

Hi everyone, I’m due to get a steroid injection soon and just wondered as to wether these are ok to have with b12 deficiency? I was diagnosed the end of may so have only just started my road to recovery. I have many many symptoms and just don’t want to go backwards! Any advice would be gratefully received

Me and my knee again!

Following a flare up post Covid, I have increased my Sulfasalazine, added Hydroxychloroquine and just finished a 3 week course of Predisolone, as well as having had 2 steroid injections.

Cold water swimming

I have quite severe arthritis in my ankle, but until recently it’s been managed quite successfully with steroid injections. In August of last year I took up cold water swimming and now swim in the sea around 5 times a week.

does anyone know about steroids and CLL?

I have a slipped disc and they use steroid injections in the back. My body does not like steroids, I am very sensitive to them. They stay in me a long time, I do not know the reaction between CLL and Steroids.

pain medication

I do not want any kind of spine surgery or steroid injections, and both my GP and pain management clinic are not in favour of this anyway. There seems to be very little that can be done. I would love to hear what others are doing and how they cope with this condition.

Pain relief from methotrexate?

I just hope it works as steroid injections don't anymore. I'd love to hear any success stories as I've heard a lot of negative stories.
