steroids and diuretics
we may need to discuss some diuretics with the GP. Mum is currently receiving some respite care and her legs are becoming swollen….they’re not as good as insisting on the elevation as I do at home. I notice there’s a bit of a flag with prednisolone and furosemide due to potassium issues. Has anyone

How can I reduce the swelling in my foot and ankle?
Hello I was diagnosed with RA about six weeks ago and am on 20 mg methotrexate and 5 mg folic acid and have had a steroid injection. I can see improvement in other places but my right foot and ankle are swollen so I can only walk really short distances with a limp. I am worried that I will not be able

Light on the horizon?
On Thursday I attended my PMR/GCA Support Group meeting in Southend. Prof Dasgupta came to speak to us and I thought some of you might be interested to hear what he had to say. It was a talk that certainly gave hope for a change in attitudes and therefore a change in treatment pathways. He firstly

Bad Back
Been off Prednisone for six weeks after a four year journey. Before PMR and Prednisone I suffered with my back but whilst on steroids I didn’t. I have had a painful and stiff back for the last week and am tempted to try my remaining Pred tablets for a couple of days. Any thoughts on this please ?

Steroids or Intralipids or both?
Hi everyone, I’m about to start my next FET cycle. After repeated implantation failures I had all the tests (EMMA ALICE ERA and NKC) I have natural killer cells so they want to put me on steroids and the Intralipids. I know all this is considered a bit experimental by HFEA and it’s on their red/ grey

I am on 320 of alvesco a day at present along with fostair mart taken with my trusty aero chamber. I was on 640 of alvesco, however for the first time I was starting to get some irritations from this, mild oral thrush, joint pain, weight gain and some odd eye issues. So my consultant said to drop

Not always Polymyalgia!
I am lucky with my rheumatologist. At a recent appointment I mentioned that turning my head from side to side was painful. She set me up for an immediate neck x-ray, saying that if the stiffness was due to another cause it would give me confidence to continue reducing the steroids - I’m currently on

immunotherapy damaging kidneys
hi My mother has been having successful treatment for stage 3 lung cancer, but the immunotherapy has negatively affected her kidneys, so she is having steroids and they have said they cannot continue to offer the immunotherapy. We are awaiting a scan appointment & they may then discuss radiotherapy,

Covid
Feeling a bit rough on Tuesday I thought I'd use up the last of my Covid lateral flow tests to help clean our a cupboard and jings and crivvens it came back with the two red lines. I've avoided it entirely until now despite living with someone who caught it twice and having other near misses. I thought

Worse after an UTI and Covid
Good afternoon. About five weeks ago I developed an UTI for which I took three separate courses of antibiotics as it wouldn't clear. In the same period I contracted Covid which didn't affect me much. I only found out that I had it because a friend who I'd spent time with had done a Covid test and it

COVID-19 and Parkinson’s disease: a single-center study and Mendelian randomization study
More than one-third of patients with PD exhibits exacerbated motor symptoms, with bradykinesia being the most prominent. The findings from this cross-sectional study suggest that COVID-19 infection contributes to the deterioration of motor symptoms in PD patients. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598

Covid with TCZ
I am on my second bout of Covid. Because I am on TCZ, I have had the antiviral Paxlovid both times. The first time it effected a rapid cure, but not this time. Although I am not particularly ill, I still have a productive cough and have tested strongly positive again this morning. Proper fed up. Have
