Hi Germantara, I would definately take them. I caught COVID before the lockdown when we knew little about it and ended up taking three courses of steroids and lots of ventolin. It took me months to get over it due to getting so breathless all the time. Speak to your doctor to confirm if you can. Get well soon. x
Hi germantara I have just tested negative after 9 days of covid and was very overly productive with my mucus during it and still a bit now the breathing has improved now so I hope it will get better for you soon too
I hope you'll soon be feeling better. xxx
This is a question for your own GP or practice nurse. Steroids are normally for an infection that does not clear up after antibiotic treatment was the impression I was given. Our GPs don't prescribe such drugs without a reveiw of your health status. In fact to spite many years of COPD I have only been prescribed oral steroids on the rare occassion mainly by the hospital.
Hello. Steroids should only be taken if you have a flare up. They will make no difference at all when you have Covid. If you’re breathless then use Ventolin a bit more often. Spiriva Resprimat should not be used as a reliever.
I'm currently doing a pulmonary rehab course. Yesterday, the nurse's advice was if you're very breathless but do not have an active infection, then steroids on their own are the appropriate treatment. But if you have a current infection (eg, signs of green sputum), then take antibiotics and steroids. They were also advocating to start treatment sooner rather than later, to prevent a hospital admission and prevent further damage to your lungs. However, if you are concerned, you really should seek advice from your GP or COPD nurse rather than here maybe? I hope you feel better soon ❤️
I too have copd & Bronchiectasis but am finding lately that Ventolin is not noticeably effective. My GP switched me from Ventolin to Salumol which is cfc free but I found it no good so along with a number of members of this forum asked for it to be switched back to Ventolin. I am breathless after making even the smallest effort. My GP has referred me to a consultant so I am waiting for an appointment to see if they can help me. In Feb I was in hospital for a week with Ecoli, UTI & Sepsis. Am still feeling the effects of that. I asked if having sepsis had left me with this worse than ususal breathlessness but am told not. Well it’s one hell of a coincidence!. To give you an idea last summer a 40 to 50 mile cycle ride was normal now it’s 4 or 5 & I am breathless when I get home. I have been on Ventolin for years & used to describe it as a miracle, which it was but not any more. I am 78 so it could be an age thing. Best of luck with your health problems. Normc
Please contact your doctor or 111 for medical help .
I use my red inhaler twice a day as a preventor and ventolin when I am struggling through the day. But I was I firmed when I was having concerns to up my preventor to three times a day. I kniw this might seem stupid but I also drink lemon, honey and ginger freshly prepared in a large thermal flask and drink it through the day. That helps me with Covid and flu .
