Atorvastatin
I have been advised to go on the above Statin, having read the reviews I’m concerned about starting it, I have GCA & PMR and have managed to cut down to 3.5mg of Steroids and am on 20mg of Methotrexate and am virtually pain free now, has any one else taken Atorvastain along with Steroids and Methotrexate

migraine
I know I’ve been on here multiple times, I do mindfulness and yoga, practice somatic tracking, but I still lie in bed everyday with intractable migraine following a blow to the back of my head 3 years ago. I have tried twice to commit suicide because the migraine simply does not lift. I am meant to be

Aargh will it never end ?
Having caught a bug off my daughter (flu like symptoms all last week) I called a temp halt to exercise.Over the weekend, it's morphed into a severe chest infection and I'm now on antibiotics and steroids. I need this like I need a hole in my head ! Luckily, I managed to get an emergency appt (on the

Is some pain necessary when gradually reducing steroids ?
Hi I have been on pred for 6 months now. Originally because of bad polymyalgia pain in lower limbs which eased off - but then 4 months ago when flare up was on both wrists. I went up to 40mg a day but in January started cutting down to 5mg. 3 weeks ago. Then at 5 mg pain came back in wrists (

Travelling whilst taking steroids
I am planning a trip to Australia in May to see my brother-in-law.. We can only go for 10 days but this may be the last chance we get to see him. Sadly he is very poorly. Anyway, the reason for writing is that I am doing well with my reduction of steroids. I am now down to 4mg and don't want to spoil

overlap RA, medication?
I was Dx with overlap rheumatoid arthritis. I have had PBC for 15 years, controlled well by URSO. In terms of RA, rheumatologist says this really limits medications given so many of the standard RA medications can damage the liver. For now I am on steroids. Can anyone else in the PBC community speak

Inflammatory reaction to sugar and carbohydrate ?
did I read somewhere on this site that people with PMR and or on prednisolone can develop a reaction to carbohydrate ? One of the first things I recall about this journey was feeling very dodgey after sucking some butterscotch sweets on an empty tummy. That was before I was diagnosed and given steroids

Steroids and Phlegm Samples
Hi, Does anyone know if it is ok to start a course of steroids, before giving a sample of phlegm. I took a course of antibiotics a few weeks ago and didn't feel the infection was totally cleared up, but I'm very reluctant to start a second course without knowing if I have an infection, or not. However

After 25 days back on prednisone...
Thank you to all who advised on my previous post. I have almost completed the first month back on 20mg day of prednisone. The effect was immediate, pain gone, stiffness gone, fatigue better, am motivated and catching up with chores I had neglected for months. I feel more positive now, even started

Exhausted
Hi I was diagnosed in December with PMR, was put on 15mg of Predosline then told to drop to 10mg after 5 weeks. My symptoms returned and I went up to 20 to try and clear the flare up. I went back down to 15 mg and now at 14 mg, which I’ll stay on for another 2 weeks. My doctor wants me to drop every

Afib, inflammation and NSAIDs
I was awake in the early hours, brain active, and thinking about my inflammation issues. I have Afib, polymyalgia, giant cell arteritis, bursitis, arthritis, spondylitis, tendonitis, IBS etc. Is there a connection between Afib and inflammation? I am unable to take NSAIDs due to being on edoxaban.

On Friday I woke up to find my dear husband dead in the chair. I rang 999 who told me to get him on the floor to start cpr. I told them I could not manage that because he was a fit 6ft man. Thd call handler then just said that there were no ambulance available at the moment and just ring 111 or my GP

I have just had a major flare up of PMR. At first the doctors thought I had a bacterial infection, then internal bleeding as I was anaemic, my CRP was extremely high for weeks. Eventually after 2 hospital stays and 6 weeks out of work, a diagnosis of systemic inflammation was given. I’m currently having

Hello everyone
I was diagnosed with PMR at the end of January after several months of aching joints with limited mobility, particularly in my shoulders. After a week of steroids the mobility in my shoulders returned to normal and my hips and knees were fine. I was able to resume doing my weekly 30 mile cycle ride.
