I was Dx with overlap rheumatoid arthritis. I have had PBC for 15 years, controlled well by URSO. In terms of RA, rheumatologist says this really limits medications given so many of the standard RA medications can damage the liver. For now I am on steroids. Can anyone else in the PBC community speak to any experience with this? TIA

overlap RA, medication?
I, myself, have no experience with RA. I do hope though that whatever medication the rheumo doctor prescribed that it is in agreement with whomever is managing your PBC. All too often doctors do not communicate well - if at all. You might ask the rheumo doc what exercised might help as well. I am a firm believer in water exercisng. Is this something available to you? It is so easy on the joints and so good to keep everything moving.

I, too have PBC and rheumatoid arthritis. I also have thyroid disease. As it is not uncommon to have more than one auto immune issues. My rheumatologist has put me on Azathioprine. A very low dose. Not only does it help with my rheumatoid arthritis. It has brought my.Alk Phas down to a normal level . I have been on. Ursodiol, for years and has never been able, to bring my levels down.
Just thought this may , Help you. To at least investigate. And see if this is something that would work for you as well.
best wishes
