I'm sorry - do you mean you are on 12 tablets of 5mg each, i.e. 60mg? And are to drop to 11 tablets, 55mg in total?

It would really help us help you if you could write out a bit of what has happened either in a post or on your profile page - when you were first ill with GCA, what country you are in, when you were first put on pred tablets, are you under a GP or a rheumy, what are your symptoms, It sounds nosy but without knowing that we can't offer you much advice and help.

Before you can even THINK of getting off the steroids, you have to get the inflammation fully under control and that doesn't seem to have happened so far, This isn't the stagge to worry about stopping pred - if you have GCA there is quite a long journey ahead of you and if you stick with us we will guide you on the way. You don't take a short course of pred and stop it for GCA - it cures nothing, It is a management strategy to keep the inflammation under control and reduce the risk of you having vision problems or having a stroke. So put that out of your mind for the present - we can come back to that later. For the moment, just deal with where you are.

You will get off Pred, but you do need to get your illness under control first.

As PMRpro has said a bit more detailed information would help us to help you.

And I know you are in a state at the moment -but did you mean to put your name as the time of your post

HU is playing up at the moment and I’m trying to get them to sort it out and this is one of the issues- so need to know if you did it or the system did!
