Very stiff knees and slightly puffy ankles
I have been putting it down to overdoing it, but don’t think this is the case. My PMR has always been in my knees and hips, not shoulder girdle. I have had it for just over 2 years and been up and down with Pred like many people. Thought I had successfully got down to 6 mg, which I have been on for

Time it takes to kick in - prednisone vs prednisilone?
Hello everyone, I'm having trouble finding an answer to this and I was hoping someone here might know. From what I understand, prednisone is a pro drug, so it has to be converted in your liver first and takes around 2 hours to fully kick in. Whereas prednisolone is already the active version, so it

anyone with AIT and Lichen Sclerosis?
hi there, does anyone on this wonderful forum also have Lichen Sclerosis? My Mum (85) is really suffering, she has followed all guidelines for 20+ years, had biopsies, used steroids as directed and special non soap washes. She isn’t diagnosed with AIT, but I inherited it from somewhere and she had

I started off with PMR 9 years ago and then developed GCA, I'm sure I still have PMR, but Doctor begs to differ, I came off steroids 2 years ago, because I was going up and down, and I had a bone scan, and osteoarthritis was everywhere, I had an MRI on lumbar spine, MRI on Cervical spine and MRI on Thigh

Diabetic Macular Ischemia
hi all just wondering if anyone has had ischemia in their good eye it looks like that is what I have had for a while but now it’s much worse and just wondered if anyone has been told they had it in both eyes and therefore the eye injections are not working. I can’t have steroids as I am a steroid responder

Thank you
Thank you to everyone who has already replied to my post today about my condition. I've been told it's Giant Cell Arteritis, Vasculitis, Aortitis, depending on who I've seen in Rheumatology. It's such a relief to be able to connect to other people with the same condition as me, because most places

cortico steroid injections
Hi, I’m just wondering why
steroid
injections
aren’t used in PMR? Is it because a high enough dose can’t be achieved? I have way less side effects with a steroid injection than Prednisilone., which I can’t take. Thanks

leg weakness after attack
Hi, I am a newbie, but had asthma for years and it is getting gradually worse. I have had maybe 3 severe attacks and the most recent has had me off work for nearly 2 weeks now. In the past I have carried on going in (to my detriment) you know that work ethic malarkey. This time I took the time

Food diary.......
HI everyone....I'm planning to do a food diary as I've read on here that the correct food could help....but because I'm on steroids 15mg a day.... would it make any difference as the steroids are doing their job and keeping the pain at bay Any tips for crippling insomnia..... I went to bed at 11pm finished

I wonder if you have seen the article Pro on even small doses of steroids on cardiovascular health. Seems to be a British research article. Don't know how to share the link.NIHR. Ac. Uk

Steroid induced diabetes
I haven't seen too much about steroid induced diabetes. I was diagnosed with diabetes shortly after being put on Prednisone for PMR. It definitely changed my eating habits but I was able to control it with few carbs and more exercise. I was told that it might clear out as I taper off the steroids.

Serum Ferritin
I’ve just had a raft of blood tests as I am suffering with terrible itching and rashes which I understand are quite common whilst reducing steroids (currently 1mg). Everything came back normal except serum ferritin of 630 ug/L My doctor marked all the results on-line as satisfactory but this result

Asthma and mental health effects.
Hi, this is my first post on this forum. I was diagnosed with asthma , mild asthma about two years ago. Went on a reliever first than a preventer . Eventually got the side effects of fasciculations and restless legs at night when trying to get to sleep .In September last year a rheumatologist identified
