Dilemma Stick or Twist?
Background is had RP and a positive margin. Had SRT to prostate bed only. PSA has gradually risen back to 0.11 over a couple of years. I had a Combidex Nano Scan at Nijmegen which identified 4 suspicious lymph nodes (iliaca externa left and one iliaca externa left (cranial). I have just had a telephone

Long-term overall survival of radical prostatectomy patients is often superior to the general population
New German study below [1]. An odd observation. Perhaps the lifestyle changes that men make after diagnosis really do make a difference? It is not surprising that the benefit would diminish with the seriousness of the cancer, but even the high-risk guys did slightly better than the life table. "A total

Radiotherapy for Intermediate Favourable seems successful 26 months later, PSA down to 0.83 and dropping each time so far. But I've noticed a weaker flow over the last few weeks and yesterday I was very ready to pee, but could not even produce a sample to test for infection. Waited two hours at the Drs

Gentle steps to next HM
3 months ago I was happily training for the HM which came to an end on 12th March with a 13km run. In early February I attended my routine mammogram and a week later got the call back for further investigation. For the next few weeks various investigations confirmed that I had breast cancer. A bit

Positive Progress
So I've just had my 1st Cancerversary, in that I was diagnosed with stage 3b lung cancer on the 12th May last year, I thought i'd share a couple of things i've learnt for the benefit of someone who may be in the same position I was a year ago. Point 1: If you have surgery don't assume you'll be out running

Off label use of Mekinist (Trametinib)
I came across this in chapter 43 of the Dr Mark Sholz book The Key to Prostate Cancer. It's only anecdotal evidence of course. Anybody considering taking it, should do it with agreement of their MO. Mekinist is a Mek inhibitor and used to treat melanoma, thyroid cancer and non small lung cancer. Patient

Sensitive to radiation
I began my radiotherapy (prostate plus lower abdomen lymph nodes) on Tuesday. 5 hours after the treatment I became nauseous so the following day they gave me pills that help with that. Yesterday I started having urinary problems such as if I hold my urine like I need to during therapy, then when I try

Radiotherapy for sarcomatoid sccs related to ruxolitinib: would welcome dosage experiences
Hi. Thank you in advance for your time. I’m having 50 grays of radiation split into 20 doses ( 5 days a week) to prevent further recurrences of SCCs. on my face. Removed surgically. . Nasty stuff , and face is already sore and itchy after 6 treatments. Can’t find any evidence base for that level of

Anyone Have Blood Clots Following Chemo?
I have just been diagnosed with nearly a foot-long blood clot in my right leg. An ultrasound indicates the clot's in a smaller vein near the surface of the skin, as opposed to a deep vein. But it is raising concern of my doctor as it's apparently close to a junction with a larger vein. It is extremely

Leg Pain
Hi everyone, just a question with regards to pain that my old man is feeling at the moment. It started round about the time he started radiotherapy on his Prostate. They decided to do an MRI and although this chucked up a couple more lesions than what was already known, he was cleared for spinal compression
