TSH slowly creeping back up.
After 6 months on
statins
, my cholesterol had dropped like a stone, and I stopped
statins
with my GP’s blessing.

After recent blood tests Surgery decided I should be on
Statins

Huge increase in LDL
Bloods were done exactly 4 weeks after stopping the
statins
and my LDL has shot up to 3.7! I had a shock. HDL is now 1.3, Tg1.3, ratio 2.3 and total cholesterol is 5.6. Seeing the GP in a week to restart a statin most probably. Is this huge increase normal after stopping Rosuvastatin?

weight, diet and statins?
I had a recent blood test and my GP picked up on my cholesterol level at 6.5 and wanted to start me on
statins
. I’m not keen (more bloody pills!) and we agreed to let me try to reduce it a bit myself first.

Wednesday's Word
These drugs have long been used as a lipid lowering drugs - although now
statins
are more widely used for this purpose of lowering cholesterol. They are not yet approved by FDA use in treating PBC. Often times, Ocaliva (another second line treatment) has greatly increased itching.

Statins: 2024 update
they seem useful, even if it’s not an interventional trial https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38164036/

Anyone successful at reducing cholesterol levels without statins?
I’m not afraid to take
statins
, but would just prefer to do this myself.

Advice on medications
So she has put me on
statins
. I told her that I don't eat anything rubbish and I have a very healthy lifestyle. Does anyone know or have been on these to give me a bit of advice, I have heard of some horror stories about
statins
and the side effects.

I’m unable to take
statins
having tried several I landed up with rhabid( whatever the word is) loosing muscle and feeling very poorly. I have been prescribed estemibe. I have stomache problems with all the heart meds and I have persisted with estemibe because I’ve got genetic high cholesterol.
