Liver problems?? From statins

Hi just wondering if anyone else was put on statins-- atorvastin 20mg and then liver problems arose!! I am to have a scan now,so decided that as have had no problems with liver before now and have bloods done 6 monthly, that will stop atorvastin,am due bloods again in 3 months

Statins can affect your liver function. That is why it is periodically tested if you take them. But other medication can also affect the liver too. However other medication is available for cholesterol management, as well as life style measures, and the level and profile of lipids will also be taken into account when assessing not taking lipid managing medication vs. heart disease risk. Nonetheless you should not stop taking medication without the input of the health professional who prescribes for you.

Thanks,not on statins for cholesterol but have stopped them but informed gp of decision

I have Liver Cirrhosis and every drug I've been put on since I had my MI is detrimental to my Liver. Regular Liver Function Tests are keeping an eye on it and so far so good.

Am having a liver scan sometime,but up to going on these,liver tests been good,wasn't on any medication until last year so shock for me
