introduction
I did have good support from GP, who requested urgent liver scan when
statins
caused problems and 6 mth blood tests. However the receptionist now insists I see locum GPs for reviews of
statins
due to leg pain -I now feel dumped by both secondary and primary care.

Stent - do I need one?
I was put on Beta blockers,
statins
, and now I have no pains, low blood pressure and am walking up to 18 miles a day with group. I do get raised heart beats if I walk to fast, or am physically tired. Now booked in for Angiogram, for possible stent. GP says I can refuse stent if I want.

Red Yeast Rice Extract (RYRE)

Statins
are well researched with the research being peer reviewed. There are also very tight controls over its manufacture and dosage which is not the case with RYRE.

I am on dual course antibiotics to get rid of the infection and my surgeon confirmed i can stop all medications including clopidigrol and
statins
due to my extremely low level of Apol B and Apol E. I can take the low dose asprin for life as tbe consequence of the CABG x2.

cirrhosis and statins
I have alcoholic cirrhosis and am being recommended
statins
for cholesterol by my practice nurse. I’m a 57 year old UK male. The information sheet from the nurse session warns not to take
statins
if you have cirrhosis.

I thought the tiredness might be caused by Keppra a drug I take for epilepsy, I’m also on
statins
… but anyway the GP did a blood test, the Serum Alanine transaminase was ‘out of range’ at 54 u/l.

Daily Low dose Aspirin
hello, i am currently on low dose Aspirin and
statins
on the back of CVD diagnosis. Given the latest guidance by health bodies - is it still recommended to be taking daily Aspirin?

Medication
My gp gas tried me with different
statins
but they always cause side effects. My knees aways cause a lot of pain on these medications. I've recently had blood tests my gp has called me in for an assessment. I know he's going to push meds on me.

Insurance company issues
I've got private health insurance (since 2021, never used), but when I contacted them they said that because I've been on
statins
since 2015 and am also on amlodipine to moderate blood pressure that I am probably excluded from claiming on grounds of pre-existing conditions.

update on statins, Leflunomide & biphosphates
Medic 1 - my GP who discussed
statins
, agreed my cholesterol was borderline and that
statins
were a complication I could do without, given the other issues I’m dealing with. Result!

From what I've read,
Statins
do not eliminate existing plaque, but stop it getting worse. Always ate healthy, since a child being faddy, cut off every bit fat from meat, wouldn'teat offal . No red meat for 35 years, diet mainly fish/chicken breast/ vegetatarian. Lots fruit and veg.
