AKI ... Contrast Induced
Good morning! Can anyone tell me how long an AKI lasts and whether, after a certain length of time, it becomes Chronic Kidney Disease!? I had a heart attack 2 months ago and required Angiography & stenting. A week or so later, it was found that I had suffered an AKI due to the contrast dye used during

Alternatives for sweets
I have long been a low carb dieter, and the fats I'd eatch are the healthy fats (avocados/nuts, etc) as well as the protein I'd eat are lean meats, eggs and protein shakes. I also cut down my carbs to mostly veggies and for a snack, popcorn, healthy popped/low salt/no butter. My one guilty pleasure is

Actemra and weight
I've been on Actemra for about a year. Been off it for a few weeks because of tooth extraction and rheumatologist wants me to restart. RX insert and other research says most biologics and more specifically tocilizumab (Actemra) causes weight gain. I lost significant weight while so sick with GCA even

Prednisolone side effects
Hi everyone I have asthma which has worsened since I was ill with suspected Covid at the end of November. I was on a 5 day course of 30mg of prednisolone which improved things and my breathing was basically back to normal after 2 weeks. I then caught a cold and since then have had very tight chest despite

Itchy lungs
This might sound a bit random but please bear with me! Has anyone ever experienced a feeling of their lungs feeling really irritable and like they are itchy/twitchy inside? I’ve been on pred for a week as my asthma was flaring and peak flow was dropping (the pred got it back into the green zone). Since

LCHF without dairy?
Hi there, I’m currently calorie counting which I find fits with family life because I can eat the same meals as wife and kids. Interested in exploring LCHF but I have a dairy intolerance (that’s a big part of why I dismissed it as an option months ago). Wondering if anyone does LCHF without cheese,

Staying low carb in a high carb world
I have had great success with going low carb, and sad to say I think my greatest ally in this has been coronavirus. I started December 2019, on what I first thought was going to be a diet (as in something I do for awhile and then stop) and allowed myself to break my own rules at social events. So, over

ALL THINGS LCHF
Hi everyone it's been a while since I posted in this group. Anyway, the last time I was here I had some questions about which method would be best for my weight loss journey and someone suggested trying the lchf plan. I've been trying the lchf plan for a few weeks now and I've had some positives like

Anti-inflammatory diet
I am relatively new to this site and think it is great! I read a couple of posts every day with great interest. I was diagnosed with PMR in August 2020 after a couple of months of excruciating pain in my shoulders. My GP pretty quickly suspected it and confirmed it with a short course of Pred (15 mg

How to increase peak flow
Asthma is quite a new diagnosis for me (sept 2020). I was initially using Kehale (4 puffs morning 4 puffs evening), however couldn’t get my peak flow above 300. Asthma nurse then moved me onto fostair 100/6. I have 2 puffs morning, 2 puffs lunch and 2 puffs evening and my peak flow increased to 350 however

Anyone celebrating Burns Night?
25th of January is a traditional feast day in Scotland (Robert Burns' birthday), celebrated with haggis, tatties and neeps. And scotch. Haggis is a meaty treat, full of organ meats, so very nutritious. It also has oatmeal, so it's surprisingly high carb, 18g/100g which is more than the tatties (potatoes

Fostair causing coughing?
I have been diagnosed with asthma, either atopic asthma or non-asmatic allergic bronchitis in February of last year, had one appointment and now followed by a consultant vis phone appointments. I was on Clenil 100, 2 puffs 2x a day, and having sore throat, hoarse voice, etc. After a trial of montelukast

Covid vaccine
So today I was booked in to have my Covid vaccine- I’m CEV frontline NHS worker currently shielding. I swear my lungs knew that something important was happening, so perfectly timed they decided they need some attention! My peak flow was slowly heading in a downwards trend, and I woke up Thursday morning

When do I... 🤔🤔
Hi everyone. Another (hopefully quick) infomercial post, to (hopefully) clear up any uncertainties people have about when the should be doing certain things. So without further ado; WHEN DO I TAKE MY RELIEVER? When you’re symptomatic 😉. If you’re in a coughing fit (that feels asthma-ry), wheezing,

Asthma control post covid - are my expectations unrealistic?
I had covid in march. My previously well controlled asthma isn't anymore. I am currently on fostair 2 X 200 am and pm, braltus, montelukast, cetirazine, dymista and ventolin. I've had 4 short courses of pred since April and am now on a one month reducing course. I was referred to the local hospital

Asthma advice
Hi I had coronavirus mid October and subsequently had issues with my asthma - tight chest, breathlessness, a weird ruttle / flutter when I breathe. I've had my medication changed to 1 x fostair 100 in the morning and montelukast in the evening to clear the cough/mucus. My peak flow is still around 350
