C.O.P.D. and thyroid.

My mother died 10 years ago of C.O.P.D. I am certain she had a thyroid problem all her life but it was never addressed.

I have asthma so it seems, my lung capacity isn't very good, checking the Peak Flow meter it is now much worse from the last measure a year ago. Wondering if I have the beginnings of C.O.P.D. too. it seems I have inherited a lot of the same problems my mother had, so why not C.O.P.D.

Interested in any opinions.

I have COPD and Bronchiectasis (the latter can only be confirmed by CT scan). My mother nor father had COPD. If you are worried I'd see your GP, or possibly the respiratory nurse if your surgery has one, get full lung function tests (a referral to hospital will provide more tests than can be done at your surgery), not just peak flow.

Thank you for your swift reply. I suppose SeasideSusie I am not sure I want to know, there isn't much you can do about it anyway?

COPD is a progressive disease but mine doesn't seem to have progressed since I was first diagnosed in 2013. Finding the right inhalers helps enormously and people differ in what suits them best.

I use two inhalers but don't need a steroid inhaler, some do.

You might want to pop over to the British Lung Foundation's forum here on HU who should be able to answer any questions
