Covid or chest infection?
I started with covid at the weekend. The last few days I've had a chesty cough, and today it's producing thick yellow mucus. My peak flow is low, I have on and off tightness, especially after coughing & SoB. Before covid, my asthma hadn't be that controlled, but I hadn't got so far as seeing the GP.

Pain relief.
I used to be able to control the pain by sticking to a very low fat diet. But for the last 18months I've been in pain every day, I have also found that the pain becomes worse when I'm walking which is really getting me down as it is hard to avoid walking it is necessary. Could anyone tell me what they

Hello! I am 20 years deep at age 40 into basically helping doctors regulate my thyroid after a horrible medical overdose at age 17 my thyroid was never the same ….perhaps it was like that as a kid from a traumatic move because I gained 40 pounds seemingly overnight, however I didn’t become medicated

Warfarin or not Warfarin?
First a little background. Around three years ago I was fitted with a mechanical heart valve. Which, of course, means a lifetime of Warfarin. Unfortunately, I suffered a stroke mid-surgery and was transferred to a different hospital. Blood tests showed that my platelet levels were low and the ward doctor

Ketogenic/Paleo diet
I have been following a ketogenic diet with very little dairy. It is very low carb and I've lost weight and generally feel better on it. However, a recent blood test showed that I have a low sodium level. Whilst I do season food I don't eat any processed food, so no crisps, savoury snacks etc. that

The rehab continues!
My rehab sessions at the local gym continue 2x a week where I have been doing a mixture of strength training and cardio work .This has been very successful in toning up areas that had needed it , especially with the recent weight loss of 14.5kg (2.5 stone) The plantar Fasciitis is certainly less but

Wandering Scot presently living in Mexico and recently diagnosed with PMR
I was diagnosed a few weeks ago with PMR after being first told I had gout and then it was emotional. Pain in my neck and shoulders and exhaustion had been going on for about 9 months but I kept thinking I was sitting the wrong way at my computer or sleeping the wrong way so would take an over-the-counter

Waw what a struggle this morning with this .
Only whent out for dinner yesterday. Walked across to pub. Well struggled across .My feet this morning walking and knees feel like dried up bones. Surely you can't get arthritis in them on 4 months. No swelling now just like bones on bones rubbing . Sacroiliac joint don't feel that good either and from

Gallbladder
Has anyone here had their gallbladder removed after also having had a cabg? How did you get on working out what to eat and what not to eat? I wasn't given a diet sheet, only advised to stick to a low fat diet with plenty fruit and veg. I'm finding I'm eating the sane things all the time! Fish and chicken

Test results, a penny for your thoughts?
Hello everyone, just had my latest blood tests done. Just curious what you would say about them, if you have the time? A few months ago I went up by 12.5mcg in an attempt to bring my TSH down to around 1 where I generally feel better. My weight is a lot better these days, my heart rate has finally calmed

What I learned about steroids and blood sugar levels from wearing a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) on the ZOE program
I’ve just finished using a CGM for 2 weeks as a paying participant in the ZOE study, which I mentioned in a previous post: https://healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk/posts/149526653/ive-signed-up-for-tim-spectors-zoe-study-looking-at-blood-sugars-and-gut-health Many PMR and GCA patients, self-included, have

Why you should NOT supplement high-dose D3
https://youtu.be/GsomcvdT7Po This random video I came across deserves more views. If you're baffled about how to get enough vitamin D when not exposed to regular sunlight, try supplementing raw cold-pressed cod liver oil instead along with vitamin K. https://www.westonaprice.org/health-topics/cod-liver-oil

sweating and tired
I’m having masses of hot flashes and I’m really tired. I’ve lost 10kg over the last three months (deliberately through low carb diet) but I’m thinking that might mean I’m now over medicated because I am less kilos than before. The other possibility is that I’ve not used my hrt patch for a few weeks

Exhausted
I’ve had a particularly rough time recently with asthma attacks. I’ve currently got no infections, and my peak flow and vitals are fine the last few days, but I feel absolutely exhausted from an asthma attack last week. It’s to the point where I have to lie down after even going down the stairs. How

Provisional diagnosis...does it sound like allergic asthma?
Is daily, chronic phlegm a feature that many people here experience with asthma? I have a provisional asthma diagnosis from GP, and have been on the lowest dose of reliever and preventer inhalers for three months. I am also taking an antihistamine (allergic to pet dander- I have two pets and have done
