Advice for severe asthma and 1st consultant appt?
Hi, I'm new to the forum but have had asthma for about 10 years as an adult. I have been very ill for the past 3 years with lyme disease and another infection called Bartonella, after an insect bite in Southern England. I have always been able to manage my asthma with becotide inhalers at 100mcg - 200mcg

Necrotising fascititis
I also want to add that in 2010 I was diagnosed with shingles & then later on that year I developed necrotising fascititis luckily my leg was saved but I needed massive skin grafts .&I was very ill . Is there any connection to the fact I have an under active thyroid gland.? Lilian

Can
shin

make your calves and ankles feel this way? 3. Is it possible
shin
splints
are not the problem, and actually there's something else wrong? Really grateful for any advice, as I'm at my wit's end and feel like giving up the whole thing.

Ticked off!
Two months after Tick Bite Prevention Week (and finally with the arrival of summer weather) I got the first tick of the season on my long run on Tuesday. :-( I found the wee blighter in the skin on my belly, so must have picked it up during one of my pit stops during the run. I found it when back

Changing my gait....
I get painful
shin
splints
, and when this happens I find I change my gait to land more on the front of my foot, and this eases the pain, and means I can carry on running. Is this a bad thing? When I get shin pain should I stop/go back to a walk?

5 x 50 Challenge - Keep Going Team
My shins are killing me (
shin
splints
again), so trying to keep the high impact/running to a minimum and doing lots of strengthening exercises. I'm however determined to finish the challenge and hoping to be able to do some more running soon.

Starting Again
After only just crawling through to W5R2 a year ago I was a complete wreck, I could barely walk because of
shin
splints
and aching arches & I could hardly breathe due to my 20 a day - I laid up for a week and then decided to quit running, it wasn't for me. But I did do one more thing.

Post-op problem
Four years ago (almost exactly) I had just returned from Derriford Hospital in Plymouth having had an operation for cancer. A few days after coming home, I collapsed in the bathroom and hit the stone floor, hard!!!! When I came to and got up I realised that I was bleeding - my lip was split. I assumed

I have Scarlet Fever!
I have been ill all week with the worst sore throat I have ever had. It was very swollen and all the glands in my neck were enlarged and tender; some still are. I didn't realise how many glands we have in our necks until I got this illness. On Thursday I went to the doctors as I had developed a hot

Hi all, my son (14) has an outbreak of scarlet fever at his school, including a number of children in his class. It is highly contagious. I am on MTX and Plaquinil. Should I be concerned?

What to do with one pigeon toe?
Does it cause you
shin
splints
? The woman who did the gait analysis was quite surprised. Is there anything I can do to correct it? Concentrate really hard on keeping my foot straight I guess! Hip strengthening exercises?

Measles - is there a non live vaccine option?
The title sums up the question. I have not had measles nor the vaccine during my life so are there any options, other than avoidance, at this stage? Thanks, Mike

Does anyone have any information on the safety of having an MMR jab with existing autoimmune hypothyroidism? I have manage to get my bloods done today to test for immunity - I had mumps as a child, and my rubella status was checked during pregnancy so I assume it's ok. I did have measles jab aged

The measles outbreak and Lupus
Hi, just a quick question. Does anyone know, or has asked their gp if we are still covered against measles if inoculated in the past, despite being on immunosuppressives and steroids?? Thanks x

Question about Splinter hemmorages
I know splinter hemmorages are a feature of Hughes syndrome and try are clots that appear in the nail bed as vertical lines but I'm not sure exactly what they mean. I am taking a low dose of Fragmin & a daily asprin. I have less splinter hemmorages but I am still getting fresh ones. In your opinion or
