Approaching week 5 - am very overweight - will I cope?
I struggled with
shin
splints
for the first couple of weeks but now I don't get any pain. I walk at 3.6mph and run at 4.6mph at the moment and am achieving about 3.5km at the mo in the half hour. I'm very daunted about week five.

just about me...
Hi all, I had a BCC removed from the tip of my nose about 7 months ago. It was an infiltrative BCC so the whole lot was removed down to the cartilage leaving a deep hole that they filled with a skin graft from behind my ear. Except that it didn't really fill it too well, and I have a sinkhole in

Working on speed? Increasing your distance? Here are 2 dead easy exercises to prevent shin splints
Stand with your toes touching, heels far apart. Slowly raise your heels and slowly lower them. Stand with your heels touching, toes far apart making a V shape. Same again: slowly raise and lower your heels. Repeat each ex 10 times. I do them before and after a run but also during the day at the sink

Updates on Lyme Disease - and new hope
I have written on here before about the devastating effects that Lyme Disease can have on an individual and how it can seriously interfere with endocrine function, including thyroid function. This is the latest article on the subject written by Dr. Mercola and is worthy of study by anybody who is still

skin growth on the back of my hand
I have a point of growth on the back of my hand, I first noticed it in the eighties where a fisherman said it was a sea boil, it seemed to fester although it never comes to fruition, since then it has grown a small dry skin prominence in a matter of time, I cannot be more precise as I don't notice it

Wiped out by shin splints
Have just had to cut W2R1 short due to a horrible pain in both my shins which I think is probably
shin
splints
:-( I'm gutted as I had a really good breathing pattern down, good pace, wasn't getting too tired and was actually really enjoying it.

Please - call yourself a runner.
I remember the
shin
-
splints
which plagued weeks 1-4, both times I did the programme. I remember doubting whether I was actually running or jogging or plodding. Could I call myself a runner? I googled differences between running and jogging but this didn't really help.

No treatment options available to me
I was diagnosed recently with Hughes/Lupus & Sjogrens and they tried me on Plaquanil and the side effects and reaction was too profound, I had a letter today saying that mepacrine could be an option but it is much less likely to work and I could suffer similar adverse effects. And due to the fact that

Shin splints
I have had
shin
splints
for 2 years now. The pain was at its worst summer just past when I could not even walk without pain. I have been religiously stretching my calves for 8 months now and I started strengthening exercises for my calves too.

Training for a 5k, advice needed
I'm not fit but I'm not couch level either, I complete Week 5 Run 1 on Friday and Week 5 Run 2 yesterday, they were more difficult than I thought and I'm concerned that
shin
splints
will get me, Week 5 Run 3 will be 20 minutes non-stop, which is a huge jump.

Low results on nerve conduction test. Meaning?
I went in today for a NCV, and and EMG. The nvc showed that my nerves in both my legs had a "slower then we like" results. The EMG showed no pinching or cutting into my nerves were happining. He also had me run blood work today also, lyme disease was included. What could be causing this? I was shocked

Antibodies results
Would somebody be kind enough to post what the normal levels are for both Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies, and thyroglobulin antibodies. I trust you good people, rather than conventional medical ranges. :0) I also haven't a clue what the difference is between the two, if anyone can enlighten me.

Deep learning algorithm diagnoses skin cancer as well as seasoned dermatologists
There's been an encouraging development with Artificial Intelligence detection of skin cancers. The Google neural net is [i]'helping catch skin cancer now, thanks to some scientists at Stanford who trained it up and then loosed it on a huge set of high-quality diagnostic images.
