Immune disorders new research
Some time ago I posted a link to an interview where a researcher expressed optimism that research into the effects of
SARS
-CoV-2 on the immune system could result in more knowledge to help people suffering from other immune-connected diseases (like PMR and GCA).

Tirosint
Hi, I posted earlier about Tirosint in Gel capsules possibly giving me a rash. I stopped taking them 4 weeks ago and the rash continues. Not as bad but still all down my legs and arms. My question. Can it take so long to leave the body? Or am I blaming the wrong thing for my rash? Blood tests were

hip surgery
i have damaged my right hip favoring my left “Parkinson’s” side. I have a labral tear and a cyst in addition to a rough and worn bone structure. I see a hip specialist in a couple weeks and will likely have surgery. Who here has had hip surgery on your “good” side?

C section vs Lap Recovery
Has anyone had both a c section and lap with excision, cysts removed and bowel shaved? Just wondering how recovery compares with the 2 surgeries. My pain was gone 2 weeks post section and I was out of bed 6 hours after surgery. Something tells me this is going to be worse! Lap scheduled in 4 weeks, dreading

Approved additives and E-numbers (UK)
As food additives are often discussed, I thought it might be useful to post the current list of approved additives in the UK. Note that the use of substances in foods is largely separate to their use in medicines. One example being Titanium dioxide which is now banned in foods in the EU and Northern

Valproate: new safety and educational materials to support regulatory measures in men and women under 55 years of age
I don't think there is any reason to expect many members to be taking any form of Valproate, but this is such an important issue, with such significant consequences, I've decided to post it anyway. Even if you are not taking it, someone you know might be. [i]

Loss of service
Since being diagnosed with lymphoedema early this year as a result of surgery/trauma I have been trying various stockings and tights which wouldn't make my sensitive skin itch. I phoned my lymph team up today to discuss where to go from here and I have been told that they can no longer support Lymph

Further update Gallbladder removal
So I am home after a long day. Had to get up at 5am to be at hospital by 7am. All the usual preps and questions then operation took place at 10am. Because I have an LBBB (No underlying heart issues) They were extra careful with monitoring so had an extra canula thingy in my inner wrist to monitor heart

Emergency use authorization of a new pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for COVID-19, PEMGARDA™ (VYD222)
It’s a one-hour infusion and lasts 3 months and based on titers should be effective against the present VOC of
SARS
-CoV2. And it was studied in the immunocompromised! It does have a 0.6% risk of anaphylaxis so discuss with your healthcare team but this is great news overall for CLL patients.

Nose surgery??
I had a major jaw surgery in 2022 to correct a severe underbite, and resultant chronic pain. I've been super self conscious of my nose (and the rest of my face) since and am having therapy. But I'm also considering getting nose surgery. What are your thoughts? What would you change?

Does your tummy go back to normal after a laparoscopy?
I know the surgeon will do a few incisions on your tummy including your belly button. These incisions look larger than I thought they'd be. Does your tummy eventually go back to normal once healed, or will you forever be scarred and have an odd looking belly button? How long did it take you to heal eg

Should I remove the bandages from my incisions for good?
Hello ladies. I am 2 weeks post my lap. I am healing well, no pain, but not so bouncy any more. Just wanted to ask you how long have you kept your incisions covered please? Mine are closed I think since there is no red tissue or open wounds just some scars like you have when your wound is healing. I

Picking
My husband with PD has been picking at his skin. Especially his hands. Dermatologist recommended lotions for dry skin. Neurologist says it’s not due to PD. He thinks he is peeling skin, but I don’t see anything. Seems to me to be more like a habit, like biting nails. Has anyone else had this feeling?
