I have had two fairly large endo ops and both times I had a bowel prep at home. If you are worried I would contact your endo nurse or consultants secretary. I hope this helps. I wish you all the best.
I had the same surgery as you 16 weeks ago. They gave me an enema in the hospital before I went down for surgery. I didn't need to do any prep at home. Wishing you all the best!
Its natural to be anxious, I got myself really worked up over the possiblity of a temporary stoma but I didnt need one. Theres also the possibilty of having a C section which I dont think I picked up on in my meeting with my specialist which I ended up needing so seeing my belly full of dressings was scary and the c section brings its own experience. You also have a drain in the side of your belly to remove the blood which I didnt expect either. I had a tube up my behind to drain the gas for the first day or 2 but this was fitted in surgery. I wasnt allowed to eat until 2 days after my surgery then only allowed soft food which then went onto semi soft food, then I had laxatives once I was eating semi soft food which can be rough so I advise getting some cream to soothe it for when youre back home. I was in hospital for 4 nights didnt expect to be that long. Hope this helps and doesnt overwhelm or scare you, please give yourself some grace as you are going through a lot physically. Take the time to recover and accept the help around you. Good luck! 😊
