Discoid lupus help please!

Hello, I've posted before whilst waiting for dermatology appointment this June for suspected discoid lupus. My initial "thing" was a small scaley patch on my eyebrow, which isn't typical looking of discoid lupus and only came up following biopsy.

Well now I have a rather bigger "thing" come up on my face over night two days ago; not itchy or sore, just there. It looks almost like a blister and is slightly raised. There is a redness around the area as well. Does this look like it might be the start of a discoid lesion? Thank you very much.

I don’t know, but when I was getting ill 5-6 years I kept getting marks like this on my legs.

I wasn’t under a consultant then,no one at GP surgery knew what it was.

I don’t get these any more, although I’ve got loads of other things wrong with me.

In a slight way it does look similar to one starting. However, I'm African American with oily skin so mine looked slightly different. They started a little like that then they burst and flattened. When mine flattened they turned colors. They scanned up, the scab would come off and the sore would start over again. The scar disappeared but the skin texture is not flat anymore. I would get them in my hairline, bridge of nose and cheeks. In the very same spot as yours. Dermatology told me to keep my skin moisturized so they wouldn't hurt or leave scars. He was correct. I hope this helps you.

Thank you everyone who has replied. It feels sort of like it has a scab on it this morning, still slightly raised. I'm going to see if I can bring my dermatology appointment forwards.

I have SLE and my discoid lupus Matthew start was awful. It was similar, but not so blister looking. The only thing I had that looked like that was shingles. Definitely need it seen by a medical professional. If you have a long wait for dermatology, see a GP incase it is something else. Good luck.

I had a look at shingles following previous posts; I don't think it's that as there is no pain at all and there's only one patch of it...doesn't look too bad from a distance.

I’ll be interested in any replies you get as I have the same problem! I’ve had a scaly area between my eyebrows for 3 years. Dr thought it was Squamous cell carcinoma and gave me a special cream which eventually got rid of the raised scaly area and left me with a red patch. Meanwhile I have another red patch on my cheek which has been there ages. I have an appointment with a dermatologist at the hospital but it keeps getting postponed.

My dr doesn’t think it’s discoud lupus but I’d like a second opinion!

That's very interesting that you have something similar - have you had a biopsy on yours?

Hi, I've had DLE now for about 7 years alongside RA. It does not always present the same depending on ethnicity etc and I find mine can look different. I tend to get an intense burning sensation before one comes up. It doesn't tend to look like a blister but more a scab that doesn't come off. Can look scabby on my scalp with disc like lesions and I can then lose my hair in that area. I'll try and add some pics of mine. Just to add, if you are not already, use spf every day. The sun can be a big trigger. Shout if you have any questions x

I had something similar that GP thought was inflamed hair follicles.

Get it a fair bit.

Thank you so much for everyone who has replied, and for photos. The crust came off the blister part this morning (still no pain) so now it's just redness which is definitely an improvement. No luck with bringing dermatology appointment forwards, but I will post an update once I've seen the Consultant.
