Wk3 Day 1 - Surprised myself but need to quit smoking!
Well I feel super smug I completed my first run of week 3, I was dreading it but found I could do it without being too tired and I feel elated. Still smoking though thats my next challenge I have cut down to about 5 a day any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

Two days together -urrghh!!
This is getting worse - not a good day at work - All workmates being smokers and I don't even get the peace of being able to spend 3-4 mins outside away from the stress. Someone in the office arguing black is white telling me I was incorrect - when in fact they were wrong as it turned out. No apology

Before you reach your quit date, try to understand what part of smoking actually satisfies you....
Here is a simple thought provoking exercise to try before your
quit
date; 1. Don't worry about stopping
smoking
but become really aware of each cigarette or roll up that you smoke and the whole process of smoking each individual one. What do you believe you really enjoy about it?

If it only takes 24 - 48 hours for nicotine to leave your body, why would I want to use NRT?
For those of you 'toying' with the idea of whether or not to use NRT have a read through the following information that I put up a while ago. It's also worth reading through it as you may understand how those nicotine receptors in that brain of yours work; When you first stop smoking, it is true

STRANGE but true
Isn’t it funny how sometimes one thinks that we are immune to something? That nothing anyone can say and anything that they do, can hurt us. We all have an inner defence mechanism - we have to have to survive life’s knocks and bumps and so forth and I really believed that my defensive walls were impregnable

* Ways to prevent Diabetes
Quit
smoking
If you needed another reason to
quit
smoking
, here it is. A study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology showed that a person who smoked 16 to 25 cigarettes a day was three times more likely to develop Type 2 diabetes than a non-smoker 9.

Nicotine addiction.
People trying to
quit
smoking
often become discouraged when they don't succeed at first. Research shows that the more times you try, the more likely you are to succeed - so don't give up! Expectations (prognosis): Nicotine withdrawal is short-lived and should pass in time.

A long road to recovery...
Also palnning to go to
quit
smoking
this weekend hoping I get prescribed champix as smoking brings me no pleasure anymore. One thing I find myself yearning for is a friend, I can't remember the last time I had the comfort of a true friend.

ARE WE .....
In other words, we want to
quit
smoking
and we want to
quit
NOW not in 3 days, 3 weeks or 3 months, NOW, if not sooner. For me therefore, frustration is an emotional response to our quitting and emotion is defined as a state of (i) joy; (ii) sorrow; (iii) fear; (iv) hate and (v) anger.

I HATE
Scared that I will never, ever be free of smoking and when you’re scared you do what comes naturally when you’ve done it for so long and you smoke - you don’t
quit
- you take the easy option and carry on
smoking
but in private so that your other half doesn’t know. Shame, yes.

Diagnosed COPD and quit smoking, 11/09. No flare-ups since. Been on Advair with no need for emergency inhalers. Exercise- walk, garden, and
elliptical. Pulse oximeter used to monitor, Try to stay at 90+. I gained 45 pounds since I quit. Now have lost 15 through diet and exercise. I think the steroid in Advair has something to do with the gain. I just switched to Spiriva 4 days ago. I have noticed an increase in my O2 level at rest and exercise

A Lil reminder!
Hey guys its been a while since I've been on.. Just super doooer busy.. Still not smoking and am starting to see some real difference in my health. I have started going swimming again - before I quit I struggled to swim.. I'd get out of breath or start coughing.. Well I've been back swimming in order
