Antibiotics for UTI symptoms
I suspect I have endometriosis after years of painful periods, painful sex and occasional bloating. My symptoms were menstruation specific. The last 2 years I have been almost been symptom free (for some unknown reason) but since Feb I have been having the classic tugging pain from my upper abdomen down

Does anyone know
Most know my Story about my wife, how she went from a Fatty liver diagnosis in Oct of 2020 to dead from Renal Failure in Jan of 2023. One thing, that is still being argued. And drives me nuts since the Biopsies showed NASH F1. She did have a compression of her IVC and Portal. Which cleared on its

latest news on liver transplants fo4 young people
take a look at this link where young people are waiting longer than people over age of 60 for transplant decisions made by computer algorithms https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-66259618 any thoughts? I’ve just been given probably 5 years to live without a transplant, and some have been waiting for

From the depths of despair, there is hope
Hi I have written a couple of posts on here but just want to update you re my progress to demonstrate how, with determination, you can turn things around. To summarise, last May/June I was hospitalised for over5 weeks. My drinking had slowly increased, (though I had always liked a drink) following

We don't know what to expect
Hello 👋 our 60yr old father has ARLD, cirrhosis is present. 12 months since we knew for certain, diagnosed. He was clean 5 months. Then it started again. He's now same as last Yr. Ascites present. Malnourished and not eating. Not moving out his chair. Sat in his own feaces. Only input is whiskey. I

TIPS Procedure
Hi wonderful community. My question is: Has anyone had a TIPS procedure without having a gastric or esophageal bleed or without HE, ascites or any other of the many conditions associated with cirrhosis? Currently have cirrhosis, enlarged spleen(14.5 cm) and grade 4 both esophageal and gastric varices

Covid, AKI and liver damage
Has anyone else had Covid and ended up with liver damage, acute kidney injury and nearly died from kidney and liver nigh on failure. I am just wondering if Covid can worsen internal organs, cause double pneumonia and I end up in a coma for nearly 5 weeks. The main question I am trying to find out is

Hubby recently diagnosed but virtually at the end stage
Hi there. I’m not sure where to start. So my hubby was diagnosed with non alcoholic liver cirrhosis and spent 3 weeks in hospital. Half on ICU where I work and then half on the liver ward. Despite being on diagnosed 4 weeks ago he is quite far down the line of the condition. Jaundice ascities sepsis

nhs job scared colleagues will find out I have cirrhosis.
hi . I’m becoming more and more worried that once I’m called for my first surveillance of my chirrhosis that I’ll know the doctor and people there as I k ow a lot of the staff in the hospital. I’m wondering if there’s any way I could ask for my scans elsewhere? Tia

D Mannose
Hello everyone Just wondered if anyone here has used D Mannose tablets to manage recurrent urinary tract infections and if so with what success? I’ve had this problem for a few years now and the Urologist suggested daily low dose antibiotics which I want to avoid. Despite trying all of the self

Confused and stressed
Had an appointment with liver nurse last night after the beta blockers fiasco last week! She had spoken to the specialist whom l still have yet to meet and said they are not an option for my varices suggested l undertake a soft food diet. Feeling bolder about asking questions l said what is that. She

Worried sick
Hi everyone.I have suffered from NAFLD/Cirrhosis for 12 years and been ticking along usual yearly appointment and six monthly ultrasound scan. Yesterday I got a rather brief letter stating, for the first time, that my scan was abnormal. He said the had found multiple tiny areas on my liver but too

Bruising, HE and Itching
I’m newly diagnosed with cirrhosis from NAFLD and trying to sort all this out. What causes bruising? I have normal platelets, albumin and INR. Why do I have bruises in odd places? They’re in areas where I know can’t be from bumping into something. Another thing I have is brain fog and insomnia,

Supplements - are they worth trying for liver disease?
Has anyone with fibrosis or cirrhosis had any improvement from supplements? Just wondering if it’s worth trying any natural supplements since there are no pharmaceuticals to treat cirrhosis.

A coarse liver?
I had an ultrasound liver scan - as my liver was damaged by taking azaphoprine that treated my ulcerative colitis. After liver biopsy They had diagnosed liver cirrhosis 4 months ago, but now ‘a coarse liver in keeping with chronic liver disease’ What does this mean? Do I still have liver cirrhosis

I have had long term UTIs arising post radiation therapy. I also have bile salts malabsorption which causes bowel issues so it’s not always easy to keep myself as clean as I would like and I have been told this is likely to be the cause of the repeated UTIs Up until recently for approx 6 years

LFT with High Billi
I mentioned before my wife passed away in Jan 2023 due to renal failure. The One Doctor continues to argue she had decompensated cirrhosis. Her last LFTs were really good, actually beyond AST that bounced around when she got sepsis. They remained within a few points of the levels below. Her INR fluctuated

jugular test
hi I had another CT SCAN and I’ve had subtle changes with my liver as my specialists can’t work out why my liver is cirrhosis and I have portal hypertension but the findings don’t collaborate together I’ve now got to have a test where they go in to my jugular vein in my neck and I think they said it
