What socks for swollen legs?
Good afternoon. I was wondering if anybody would know what kind of socks I could use for my husband? He had cirrhosis of the liver and his legs swell really bad, all socks we have tries leave really bad indents and make his legs very sore, if anybody has any they could suggest I would really appreciate

Hi allCan anyone shed light on the following please? I had a fibroscan in early May, following a series of irregular blood results. My GP described them as elevated but unremarkable. In mid July, having chased the result for weeks, a doctor rang me to say that I would need to be treated as a patient

Cirrhosis Diet and eggs.
Hi Everyone. I have a quick question. I realise eggs are a very good protein source, and that we're supposed to eat a lot of protein with cirrhosis [I'm not sure why though - I'm still relatively new to this]. I've read some sites that say to limit eggs to 3 to 4 a week as they put a lot of stress on

Salt / Sugar / diet and food recommendations and a bit of background.
I have Cirrhosis, end of November 2023 bloods taken, GP sent me to hospital to confirm what was suspected, not had a drink since the start December 2023. I was told I had Cirrhosis and nothing else, told to eat more protein and 4 smaller meals per day, no information about salt or sugar / diet in general

Portal Gastropathy
Hi Folks, I just joined this forum today and this is my first time posting. I had a gastroscopy and colonoscopy performed on Friday. The main reason was that I have been having some difficulty swallowing for a few months, and since I had been diagnosed with Barrett's Esophagus a number of tears ago,

cirrhosis and Pip
Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone had experience of giving up work and claiming pip with compensated cirrhosis. My story is I’ve been in quite a stressful role for nearly 24 years and was diagnosed with cirrhosis about 18 months ago. I am feeling increasingly tired with considerable joint

Confusion on fibroscan results
Hi All, my husband was recently told he had an enlarged liver ( spotted when having a gastroscopy ) and that he would get a follow up fibroscan - this took a few weeks and then we got the results by letter which completely shocked and scared us! It stated he had F4 liver cirrhosis and S3 fatty liver

Pain After Paracentesis
My partner had his ascites drained last week. He has had 2 previous drains but this time he has experienced a lot of pain afterwards. It’s sometimes quite acute - and gets worse when he eats. Then he feels 100% better - only for the pain to start again. Has anyone else had this experience? Any advice

Using Travel Insurance

Questions about Cirrhosis Prognosis
Hi Everyone. I have yet another question[s] [I'm sorry!] I just read a post from 6 years ago that gave me a bit of a fright, and I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts or advice on this? The post stated that cirrhosis patients can do "remarkably well provided they can keep clean, & early stage cirrhosis

Do you have cirrhosis (or care for someone who does) and want to help prioritise what research is done in the UK?
The British Liver Trust is working with UK CLIF Network and supported by the James Lind Alliance on a project called the Liver Cirrhosis James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership (JLA PSP). The group includes patients, carers, and health professionals with expertise in liver cirrhosis.

Uncertainty of living with Cirrhosis
Hi Everyone. I'm so sorry to bother you all again, but I've had a very down day. I just thought I'd post a reply I sent to one of the lovely members of this group, with the hope that maybe someone could share with me and the rest of this lovely group how they cope with this condition. I wrote to him

Varices
Hi Everyone. I cannot thank all of you enough for being such a supportive forum. Sometimes I need to read your positive posts to get through the day. I am going in next Friday for a gastroscopy. My specialist said it was urgent, and is already assuming that I will need banding. I just wanted to ask is

getting help with care
I posted before about hoping to take my partner on holiday - which is looking unlikely and also irresponsible. He has cirrhosis which is fairly stable, having paracentesis again soon - but he’s tried and weak and pretty much not able to do much. The trouble is that he insists he is fine, can look after

Can I take him on holiday?
My partner has decompensated cirrhosis - and is currently in hospital with hyponatremia. He suffers from anxiety and finds it hard to eat - except for Ensure, which seems to be keeping him going. We hope his condition will stabilise soon though. He very much wants to go on holiday and I think that
