Hiprex and D Mannose

I have had long term UTIs arising post radiation therapy. I also have bile salts malabsorption which causes bowel issues so it’s not always easy to keep myself as clean as I would like and I have been told this is likely to be the cause of the repeated UTIs

Up until recently for approx 6 years my UTIs were being treated with antibiotics - mostly Prophylactic dose unless I had a flare up when I would take the full dose. Sometimes just for 5 days but at one stage for 8 weeks. However the flare ups became increasing frequent and I had 4 weeks of full dose antibiotics whilst also taking Hiprex and then after 4 weeks just continuing on Hiprex. 3 days after stopping the antibiotics I got an infection back. I was told by my Consultant to just continue on Hiprex, Vitamin C and also to take D Mannose which I have now been doing for 5 weeks

However - although I don’t have the awful symptoms of burning, blood in urine etc I still have an infection (testing shows my urine is full of leukocytes and I permanently feel like it’s going to get much worse

My questions are

1. Does anybody else have / had this experience ?

2. Has anybody stayed on Hiprex indefinitely

3 I was told following a culture test of my urine that I have far too much E Coli in my bladder . Has anybody ever had an E Coli Vaccine. Did this help?

Many thanks for taking time to read this

Janet
