Recurrant water infections: Hello everyone I... - Women's Health
Recurrant water infections
Silly question, if there's no bacteria, how can it be an infection?
Stupid me what I meant to say I keep getting what feels like infections
Can see, not cancelled! Lol
Lol.iam 67.so scared of what the kidney ultrasound might show up .
It could be due to the menopause, and be vaginal atrophy, which can and does trigger various bladder symptoms. Maybe ask about Vagirux, a vaginal pessary (tiny tablet) which is inserted into the vagina via a small plunger, and relieves many symptoms such as you're experiencing. Also, see if you can get referred to a local Intermediate Gynae clinic, which is run by female GPs, but deals only with female issues-part of the NHS, but separate, because gone are the days when practice nurses were able to deal with these things-it makes such a difference to quality of life, but is such a small thing in the scheme of things! If there is not one locally, then ask to see someone who can deal with this, GP's know little unless they have experienced it themselves!
Look at it this way, if there's a kidney problem, a scan will find it and it can get sorted. I have kidney disease, stage 3a, which means my kidneys don't work as well as they should, but I watch my diet and drink plenty of water to help flush out toxins. This doesn't help my bladder issue but I'm afraid I have to accept it. Apart from your symptoms, are there any other issues?
this can be because of menopause, using localised oestrogen can help this, there’s creams and little tablets that can be inserted in to the vagina
Iam 67 now menopause well gone .
This can happen at menopause and any time after that. Symptoms can stay for many years or forever. You can use localised oestrogen cream forever, however old you are. (prescribed, not OTC) It's wonderful if you need it.
Just a thought too, thyroid issues, I think hypothyroid can lead to frequent UTIs. Ask this question on HealthUnlocked Thyroid UK. You'll get fab info and advice on there
Vaginal Atrophy causes this as it effects the bladder and urethra as well, also can cause back and leg ache.
Topical oestrogen works wonders. There is also an oral tab called Ospemifene which for me was a game changer.
Doesn’t matter how long ago you went through menopause as this can happen anytime and only gets worse. I’ve had it for over 20 years and only way is to keep on top of the symptoms with vaginal moisturisers and topical oestrogen.
I would be asking for referral to see a Gynaecologist who specialises in menopause.
Yes that’s true but our body relies on oestrogen it’s in every part of our bodies, please look up dr Louise Newson or menopausal not mad.
I suffered for years with this I am 70 and lack of estrogen in the vagina causes these symptoms. I use Vagifem pessaries for the first 2 weeks you insert them every night then 2 x weekly they do really help . Some Gps have no knowledge of womens health and don't want to learn either. I hope you have a good Gp that will listen and understand to help you. X
That sounds really tough. It's understandable to feel worried, but it's great that your doctor is taking steps to investigate further with an ultrasound of your kidneys. Hopefully, it'll provide some answers and help put your mind at ease.
In the meantime, when I experienced water damage that wreaked havoc on half of my house, water damage restoration services ( alldryus.com/texas/dallas-w... ) were a real lifesaver. If you're still feeling uncertain or anxious about your situation, they might have some helpful advice or insights to offer. Don't hesitate to reach out to them for support.
I totally agree with others who think it is connected to menopause and vaginal atrophy. Yours are classic symptoms. Not many women seem to know about VA unfortunately and not many GPs either. You could ask your GP about it. Perhaps if a female dr examines you, you may not need referral to a menopause clinic ( which can take a long time).
You can use estradiol creams there or pessaries which do work. I use Ovestin. The amount of estrogen is very small and there are no risks. It is not absorbed into your body and stays localised.
There is also an FB support group about VA that has thousands of members and many posts a day, so many, many women suffer from it.
