Covid/PMR Questions
My doctor had warned me that because of the
prednisone
, I needed to contact her if I had exposure to or showed symptoms of Covid or any other bug. My recollection is that she said if I got sick, she would increase my dose of
prednisone
since my own immune system was suppressed by the
prednisone
.

Polymyalgia Rheumatica
I developed PMR in January 2015 and still struggling can’t get lower than 4.5mg
Prednisone
. Consequently I had to retire sooner than I wanted to. I have more bad days that good so difficult planning things as if I’m having a total fatigue day I just cannot muster up any enthusiasm or energy.

Anyone have a new perspective on prednisone “ok” dose?
I’ve been slowly reducing my
prednisone
over many months. From 5 mg. now to 2 mg for about 6 weeks. My diagnosis of lupus came in 2016. I’ve been living with a spine problem for many years. It wasn’t until 2016 though that I began
prednisone
at 3 mg with my hydroxy.

Things that made a difference...
Not sure if it helped, but
prednisone
certainly muted my immune response and resulted in implantation. 6. A great clinic with excellent embryologists and doctors that believe in you. Don't follow the crowd. I regret the one (useless) round I did with a popular south London private hospital.

Question re side effects of Prednisone at different levels
I'm tapering slowly and at 14mg
Prednisone
now. A couple days ago I received blood work results which showed a marked increase of A1C, LDLs and Glucose. I'm a careful eater and I exercise. Therefore I believe this is the fault of the Pred.

Going to start prednisolone steroids 😳
Therefore, i am now going to try
prednisone
! Hopefully it will work for me then I will start the Adalimumab injections. It’s all very overwhelming and the side effects are scary but I just want to have peace of mind and more control. Any advice would be warmly welcomed.

Any suggestions for how to improve my poos
I was diagnosed with GCA in January 2023 and have been on
Prednisone
ever since, along with other meds that are given to mitigate the side effects of the Pred. I also started Methotrexate this January. My first attempt to taper off the Pred last year failed because I went too fast.

Understanding the source of my pain.
But could it be temporary
prednisone
myalgia that just took nine days to subside? I'm confused about what "
prednisone
mylagia" even is. Is the same thing as temporary
prednisone
withdrawal? Or are those two separate things?

bruising but only around knees
I haven’t bumped or fallen so wondering is this
prednisone
or would I have bruises elsewhere? I’m on 4mg of
prednisone
now. Any thoughts? Have. GP appointment later just in case but wanted your opinions before going.

Methotrexate Update
I was prescribed MTX a year ago, about 18months into my PMR journey, I reluctantly followed my Rheumatologist’s instructions and in October reported back to him with details of nausea, 3 days a week of pain, inertia and depression and a
prednisone
journey of 1mg reduction per month.

Update - prednisone taper and Covid Booster
In the past few weeks, while finishing my DSNS taper from 5 to 4.5 mg, I've noticed some of the original PMR symptoms I had - painful neck and a pulsing in my head to the beat of my heart. When I went to a GP within a week of getting these symptoms back in January 2021, they ruled out having a tumour

Confused
I was diagnosed with GCA in May 2023, put on 60gms
prednisone
and Adcal d3. This is now down to 18gms. I'm confused about diet, tea coffee inhibiting absorption of calcium and times between taking meds.

hydrocortisone or prednisone?
I am considering switching back to
prednisone
to continue my tapering. Hydrocortisone seems to upset my stomach more and needs to be taken twice a day. I also feel like I feel more pressure in my temple areas that I did not feel when taking
prednisone
.

GCA morphing into PMR?
Hello dear friends: I’ve been on the GCA journey almost 3 years now and I am down to 1 mg
prednisone
. I’ve been under terrible stress especially the past week but continuing for a couple months. And suddenly now and I am almost off of
prednisone
for GCA, I have fear that PMR is kicking in.

Oops! With the Prednisone
On March 28, when I gave the pillboxes to Janice, I wrote a note that said, "Add 2.5 mg
prednisone
and Gabapentin AM and PM." Three nights ago, when I flipped my night-time meds out, a half-pill dropped on the vanity. ??

3 Year Anniversary!
My rheumatologist suggested it to get off the
prednisone
. I am down to 1.5 mg per day. Going oh so slowly but not slowly enough for Rheumy! Always so appreciative of the advice and support of this forum.

Has anyone had to stop actemra?
Anyways I’m back up to 10mg of
prednisone
and not going back on Actemra because of diverticulitis. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar situation of having to abruptly stop Actemra and how did it go?
